HAKAN, BARBARIAN OF HEIMDA is the name on the pack. Obviously the figure is ridiculously muscled but we have to expect that from figures portraying barbarians. As such another exercise in painting flesh. Clearly fantasy figure, well just look at that weapon and tell me anyone could seriously wield it is such a manner. No I thought not! Still part of fantasy is always a bit larger than life, so not a serious problem as far as I am concerned.
Originally I purchased him while looking to put on a Conan game. While never intended to be Conan himself I did think to use him as a supporting cast member. I do have a couple more to fit in with this game idea so you may get to see them soon, Indeed one is on the paint table at present.

He is quite the stereotypical barbarian, good for that role. But I always wanted to see halfling barbarians.. maybe with giant two-handed soup ladles, or a big bakery wooden paddle-shovel thing (do those have names? I don't know) sharpened like a double-bladed axe.

DeleteHah - I'm trying to make some progress on my 28mm "Hordes of the Things" barbarian army that I got myself last Christmas, so don't talk to me about the amount of bare flesh to paint!

Nice figure, by the way :-) .
May I wish you the very best of luck with the HOTT Barbarian army. Tattoos War Paint and even things like Woad all sound like a good idea to break the ocean of flesh tone you have before you. A lot would depend on the look you want but for me war paint would be the right way to go.

ReplyDeleteI think the figure looks the part and you've done a great paint-job on him. I think I'd have problems accepting the over-sized sword (I blame a certain Gaming Shop for that), but as a fantasy figure it's what we've come to accept.
Yeah I'm not a fan of silly sized weapons and lay the blame at the same door as you.

ReplyDeleteWell obviously I had to take my shirt off and look in the mirror to get the correct high lights and shading! That of course goes without saying. It's so much better to work from real life!
