So here is my latest addition to my 15mm WW2 vehicles. I am painting German late war infantry and assuming they go well they should be shown on Friday (That is the cue for them to go very wrong!)
I have included a quick You tube documentary as well for those of you who do not know your WW2 German vehicles. But I do realise that if you do not you will most likely not want to watch the video either. Just in the same way that if you put a documentary about English Civil war helmets, I probably would not watch it either.
But the Hetzer was a good vehicle with a good gun and low profile so very good at ambush type tactics, but not very good for slugging it out with main battle tanks. But if It could fire without giving it's position away then that was a different thing.
What a bargain a great job to boot. Fascinating bit of kit, really enjoyed the youtube link.
ReplyDeleteThanks Michael. To be honest I was not really expecting people to be interested in the Video. But the reality is that these were actually uncommon. The Germans could produce more of these than say a Panzer 4 (in the later years of the war!) because they already had the chassis.
DeleteAnd A bargain indeed, If there is a casting problem I have not found it!
Thank you Clint I found the video to be v informative and interesting
ReplyDeleteThank you Gobbo. I also found it interesting and it explains the crews positions very well. As a small tank destroyer I find it very potent.
DeleteGreat stuff- a nice rendition of my favourite AFV.
ReplyDeleteCheers,
Pete.
Thank you Pete. I do intend to use this vehicle in August at the Next Skirmish show. Not me absolute favourite AFV but as a late wad TD a very useful bit of kit!
DeleteThat looks awesome Clint... and what a bargain too!! Lovely find and a terrific camo paint job too. I love the film too - though you make a valid point that I enjoy AFVs anyway :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks Blax. The Hetzer was a little monster, quite deadly but not without problems. I have been fascinated with AFVs all my life.
DeleteGreat work Clint, great video too, I never realised that the Hetzer & Jagpanzer were the same tank!?!
ReplyDeleteThanks Ray. The jagpanzer 38t is a Hetzer. There are many types of Jagpanzers though. So they are not the same tank. Imagine the Cavalry Sabre and the Claymore. While you would call them both swords you also have to concede they are both very different.
DeleteGreat mini and the video does show just how small these vehicles are - I prefer the Jagdpanzer IV though>
ReplyDeleteYou painting is as good as alwaysand with a base on the tank your infatnry should be at the right height too.
Thanks Joe. I do have some infantry started. But not yet finished. As Armoured fighting vehicles go it is pretty small and cramped.
DeleteGreat little video that. I'm a bit downhearted mind, to hear that I'd probably be too tall to fit inside the machine. First submarines and now hetzers - its a real inconvenience being tall.
ReplyDeleteThank you Roy. I feel your pain. But just imagine we would not be too tall to crew a TOG!
DeleteYou have a steal there Clint. The 'inside' series is actually quite good. Some of the Russian tanks are tiny and are full of 'design flaws'
ReplyDeleteThanks Nigel. IF there were more on sale I probably would have gotten another. I shall have to look for a few more in the inside series that interest me.
DeleteOne of my favourite tanks, have a tiny one in 28mm hate to see how small it is in 15. I'll be getting into 15mm soon for gf9 TANKS! Basically x-wing with tracks, looks like fun, cheap too.
ReplyDeleteThanks Dave. I will confirm it is quite small at 15mm but big enough to cause trouble on the tabletop!
