Socialists (2)

yes today we have even more 28mm Empress Miniatures Spanish Civil war figures.  And just like last time these are to fight the Very British Civil war, here in Kent.

Weapons are again mostly rifles and a few pistols but there is also a soviet light machinegun this time which should give them a bit of punch and some more firepower. There is even a figure I have nick named Zabatak and no offence is meant by that (Front row centre in the bottom picture).

I hope in 2 days to show the first of the things painted since the painting challenge has ended (It was started before). But for now my second squad of socialists.

Thanks for looking and I hope the sun is smiling wherever you are. All the best Clint

  3. Good morning Clint and I echo Ray's words. I have one question you keep referring to Kent, why is that?

    1. Thank you Damon. Kent firstly is where I live. IN VBCW the West side of the Medway is controlled by the Fascist from London, while the East side is controlled by the Anglican League. As I can see the river Medway from my house it is very nice to bring in some local history into our games. You could of course set them anywhere, but as this is all local to me I can use the places nearby as inspiration for some games.

    2. Now it makes more sense. I'm down in broadstairs and was curious as to why you kept mentioning Kent.

    3. Let me know if you want the Betteshanger Colliery Flag for VBCW. I can pass it on to you as a PDF, or as a single printing if we meet at the Broadside show. (Sittingbourne) which should be closest and nearest show to you (I do not attend the Folkstone show)

    1. Thanks Bryan. The Banner bearer is a conversion, I will let Matt know you approve.

  5. You've done a smashing job on those.
If you ever wish to name a painted figure after me you'd need a tall and handsome, athletically-built and suave-looking gentlemen with ginger hair. Oh, and at least two ladies hanging off his arms (because I am, after all, a lady-magnet).
    Stop laughing, everyone! :))

    1. Thanks Roy I shall of course bear that in mind. If I ever find a figure like that I will of course call it Roy!

  6. Haha I like the idea of naming figs after fellow bloggers Clint, unlike young Roy there you would need to find a short, less than athletic (ie fat) bald guy to represent me..... I think Joe will find the humour intended in the paint job, no worries.

Damon as we are both in Ramsgate in means we would fall under the Anglican league, it may be a game we should look at?

    1. Thank you Gobbo. You are correct Ramsgate would be Anglican league. But As I have done Betteshanger as Communists you really can do whatever faction you want. Given your geographical location I might be tempted to do gun running and arms smuggling from the continent! VBCW 1930's pirates sound pretty cool to me.

    2. Yes that does sound pretty bloody cool!

    3. Easy to get started, just sort out a boat (That's the hard part) and use your favourite skirmish rules limit weapons to bolt action rifles, pistols and 1 SMG (MAX) and give it a go. Just get 2 factions you like the sound of, one as the gun runners and one as the pirates and you are all set!

    4. Well who doesn't like playing pirates lol.

    5. It would make a very good write up for the VBCW forum.

    6. I'll keep an eye out on eBay for some bargains then

  7. Very determined bunch of comrades, there, mate. How do you rationalize the French Adrian helmets in the VBCW context? Is France backing the British Reds?

    1. Thank you Michael. With regard to the French helmets, who honestly knows. Maybe they were French WW1 soldiers come across the channel to fight. Maybe they were given to a different faction and then looted. Maybe they were stolen (either in England OR in France!) All we do know is that they are here and being used by the socialists! Strange things happen in wars.
