BUF Auxilary (Part 1)

Hurray Painted figures! Yes today here are 10 BUF Auxiliary troops. They are all 28mm and by Musketeer miniatures and available here (Click this link ) and are painted to represent the BUF in the North Somerset campaign, but they will be used in Kent for the crossing of the Medway and the ongoing battles with the AL.

They have been painted for Matt and he has done some weapon swaps among the figures but I do not notice any in the first photographs. So they may be finished for Saturday. Overall very nice figures to paint and base and I have enjoyed doing them. 10 more to finish for now, but who knows after that. Apart from the Lewis gun they are all rifle armed with chevrons on the jacket sleeve for the far right figure in the first photo.

That is it for today. With luck another 10 on Saturday. All the best from sunny Kent.

Cheers Clint

Sgt Wilson

Only 1 finished today. But most very nearly finished, skin and bases and shoes and finishing off. So Confident more will be done very soon. Until then here is Sargent Wilson in mufti! Another one of Matts Conversions, this time to be a flag bearer. The flag is of course by Pete Barnfield at (LINK) and sold by Solway. It is obviously an Invicta flag of Kent as Wilmington on Sea is somewhere in this county if only going by the cap badges in the TV series or the view of the White Cliffs at Dover. But you are free to set it in your own area, I am sure I would.

Anyway for those interested in VBCW the sky blue arm bands are for the Anglican league which dominates East Kent. I painted Wilson in a grey suit as it seemed slightly more flamboyant than a brown suit. (Captain Mainwaring will be in a Brown suit.) . One of the joys of painting figures for Matt is that he always gives me free rein with the colour choices. All he has said for these was "Sky Blue Arm bands for Anglican league!" and with that level of instruction I am happy to oblige.

I Hope to post again tomorrow when another rolls of the production line. I think it will be Hodges next, but after that I am happy to take requests on a first come first served basis. (Although I am not Happy with civilian Jones or Civilian Fraiser just yet. But I am happy to work on anyone of the crew (that I have in my position)

Thanks for looking.

All the best Clint

3 more VBCW figs

I am catching up with blog posts as I have been delayed with painting the bathroom again.

But back to wargames and painting and stuff like that!

Yes just 3 more figures for Matts VBCW /WW1 collection. As usual for Matt a Pete Barfield flag by Solway this one features the Horse of Kent, "Invicta" which many of you know is the symbol of Kent. (And if you did  not know you do now!)

The figure in the middle is from "Foundry" while the ones on the flanks are "Great War Miniatures". The Great war miniatures are both minor conversions, one to carry a flag and rifle now slung, while the other now totes a shotgun.

I should have a few more on the blog tomorrow as the bathroom has now been Re-Tanked and with 3  coats of emulsion  as well, so I will not be expecting to paint that again anytime soon.

I will post again on Saturday so until then, take care have fun and remember a day without laughing and smiling is a wasted day!

All the best from Sunny (for now) Kent. Cheers Guys

A Good weekend.

Today we have 4 more Anglican league. I say Anglican league as the man with the flag has a sky blue sash which is of course one of the colours of the AL. The guy on the far right of the first picture is "Foundry" and I am told the rest are Great war miniatures. The flag is by Pete Barfield and sold by "Solway". The figures are all for Matt and his VBCW collection all in 28mm and he has already expressed his pleasure so I am sure he will like them in the flesh. There are of course more on the painting table so I would expect some more again soon. Just give me a couple of days.

Overall they have been fun an easy to paint and I will of course welcome more from him if/when he chooses.

Other News:

My Secret Santa stuff has arrived from the manufacture and will be repackaged and sent to the appropriate person slightly closer to the time. Very swift service (2 days) so I am quite impressed but needless to say I cannot tell you which manufacture as that may give it all away! But then again it may not.

Other Non wargaming news.

Yes I do play computer games and have been playing "World of Tanks" on the PC for a few month now. I do not play for long just 1 game every now and again and then I go and do something more productive. So Imagine my surprise when I was playing a Leopard Light tank (VK16.02) a tier 5 tank and was awarded a medal. The description of the medal had the words "New Record" at the bottom. Yes I nearly fell off of my chair! It turns out that driving that tank (and that tank only) I achieved the highest score that that particular vehicle has ever achieved in the game. Well I was flabbergasted!

For those that do not play world of Tanks (probably most of you to be honest) The Light Tank (VK 16.01) "Leopard" was  based on the Panzer II Auf J (VK16.01) and the Panzer II Auf M (VK13.01) An experimental tank that never went into full production although over 300 were planed. The 1st Prototype was built in September 1942. And while it never got into full production the turret did.
The turret was produced and fitted to the SDKFZ 234 (2) Puma. These last two pictures were taken from my computer to show what the vehicle would have looked like if ever produced.

Right that is my self important waffling over, now back to figure painting.

Thanks for looking and I hope you have a great weekend. All the best Clint

VBCW Command group

2 Command figures for a VBCW Anglican League. These should give the "Friars" the first squad shown 2 days ago a little more "Omph". Obly 2 figures that I grant you and painted for Mat, so after the weekend I will only see them opposite me as I try to kill them.

The figure with the blue beret carries a bible and has the spirit of God and is armed with an SMG just for any who doubt his words. I do not know who makes him but clearly he does mean business.

WHile the figure with the flag is again from Artizan Designs with just a little conversion so he can carry a flag pole. The flag is by Solway and supposed to represent Rochester but living 3 miles away it is not a Flag I have seen before. They may well have done the research or they may have just made it up to fit the VBCW background I just do not know.

All in all the figures were a delight to paint and should make Mat happy. There should be another squad finished before the week end so you can look forward (or not) to that.

That's it for now, all the best Clint

A Vary British Civil War (1)

Yes slightly early in posting this as I was due to post tomorrow, but instead you can have it tonight. Ever since I played the Too Fat Lardies rules "Chain of Command" I have been  thinking of a force and setting to "do" I was originally going to "Do"  The Pacific theatre in ww2. But now due to Matt getting me to paint some VBCW figures in 28mm from Musketeer miniatures I am thinking of swaping to a Very British Chain of Command. Needles to say this will create some difficulties as there are no "Official" army lists, but a search has yielded a discussion on a Yahoo forum about it. All I intend to do for most of my troops is to paint an arm band on them. So expect to see the first squad within a week.

These figures are for matts "Anglican League" as mentioned above they are "Musketeer Miniatures" now sold by Footsore miniatures. All in lovely 28mm and all dressed in civilian clothes. Given the propensity of men of this era to wear suits even to work in a factory I have painted them up in mostly blues and browns to make it look like suits are being worn. Shirts and overcoats and tank top woolly jumpers are also in evidence. They mostly do have helmets and military webbing to go with the strongly military weapons. As well as SMLE rifles and Webley revolvers there is also a Lewis Gun and a submachine gun. I addition there is a guy with an improvised explosive device (Molotov Cocktail).

This unit carries the flag and Banner of Chatham and Matt did mention something about them being dock workers from the Naval base. The Officer, probably a clerk has a row of medals on his chest from the 1914-18 war. And perhaps the shop steward has a flat cap and SMG to go with his mac

Well that's it for today. Enjoy the rest of the weekend and as I look around a boot fair bright and early tomorrow morning I will be looking for some suitable transport for my first squad!

Cheers Guys all the best from Sunny Kent

Clint out!
