6mm Buildings (2)

Well here are the other two buildings. Both from the same source as the ones I showed a couple of days ago. Again they have a wide variety of construction techniques displayed on each model (stone work, brick work, timber framed, weatherboarding etc etc.. ) Traditionally Weatherboarding would be white washed but I thought the blue just looked better. If we are being strictly accurate then weatherboarding is a Kent (and Kentish.....you have to be local to appreciate the difference) contextual feature which would mean the building (or Builder) was base in (or from) Kent.  I can already hear the snores so I'll move on.

The third picture shows some of the side views as opposed to straight elevations. This is to show that the details extend to all sides. I really like this approach as when on the table top we would never see a simple facade.  It also goes to show how much fun they are to paint.

Of course now I have these painted up there is no excuses not to do some of my 6mm troops. While I have none on the paint table at the moment, I have as mentioned previously now found them and even had an email back from Tim at Frontline with the sixes of the bases he has used. So perhaps I need to stop procrastinating and get on with it.

As you can see from the last photo here are all the building together. I knew someone would ask for one so just to save you the effort of asking.

So here we go again another blog post over and with luck I shall look forward to hearing from you or to the next post which should be on Friday. All the best Clint

  1. Again, they're great. Perhaps not from the close up, but being 6mm, I can't really imagine how small this is.

I really like the designs, seem to be quite detailed which is always nice.

So Kent is where people have to do things differently, eh? :D

    1. In every part of England we have to do things differently. Because every part of England is very proud of their heritage. For an Englishman anyone from a neighbouring village is thought of as a "Foreigner!" We still write "Here be monsters!" on maps when we talk about Newcastle and beyond (the edge of the world).

You are right in close up they are not so nice but using the 2 foot rule in which you look at figures from that distance they will pass muster.

Thank you Mathyoo I got a laugh out of your comment.

    2. We do the same thing. If you're not from Western Ireland your we're suspicious of you, especially those Dubs. And they think we're bogtrotters and that we speak like we've a mouth full of marbles L)

    3. Oh, I can totally understand that. Here, you can get from east to west side of the country in one day, and you can't even understand people talking from each side, yet we all speak the same language...now just imagine how well we go on :P. There is a specific brand of beer you "should" drink, depending on area you're at. But somehow, brand from one area is more popular in the other and vice versa :P

  2. These are adorable and I know how small 6mm is as I have some figures in that scale. I have no idea how I'll ever paint them.

    1. Thank you Anne I intend to start painting some 6mm figures any day. Then we shall see IF I can as well. The sculpts of the buildings fill them with character and charm, despite my efforts.

  7. Good to see the group shot, they blend together well.

So are you a "Man of Kent" or a "Kentish Man"?

    1. Well Jo as I was born the correct side of the river Medway I am of course a Man of Kent. It's not a strong rivalry these days as in my youth I have dated both Maids of Kent and Kentish Maids. (I only put that last bit in to give the female versions).

I knew you would want a group shot so included it specifically for you.
