Game Planning

As you will recall I went to play a game with Posties Rejects on Saturday. I left feeling inspired to
put a game on my self for them. I gave them several choices of Game I could put on, Some historical, others fantasy or science fiction. Historical options were mostly 20th Century as Ray covers the Horse and Musket Period very well And Postie covers the Napoleonic period both on land and sea. Mostly I wanted something that was hardly ever played in the shed of war. I was and am now planning this game for the last half  of the year. Anyway I gave them a choice and they each picked two..... except Fran who only picked one and this is how the votes for game period and scale were cast.

1 Samurai 10mm.
1 Vietnam 20mm
2 WW1 Palastine 20mm
3 Spanish Civil War 10mm

Yes I know 7 votes among 4 people! It is clear though If Fran had made a second vote it could not have changed too much. I will be honest and only gave then 6 options that would mean I need not buy and paint too much as I already have 2 forces for each of them.

The 10mm Samurai will continue to grow slowly so but I do not need to get them finished as fast as I might have

Another of the Rejects is planning a Vietnam game for the summer of this year. So Not wanting  to tread on any toes That is also best left for now,

I am working on a 20mm Arab Revolt Game so there will be one soon. Yes MORE Camels.

Which leaves Spanish Civil War. I already have two SCW forces, but I feel they need expanding for a multi player game. It was the most voted for, and it turns out that none of the Rejects asked had ever played any Spanish Civil War Game.

While I suspect the Rejects will play anything I have asked out of courtesy if there were any sensitive political views or if there was any particular force they felt more drawn towards or indeed repelled from. So far the only feedback was from Postie himself who said that he wants tanks and planes. These technological devices would be very rare in reality, and he was laughing when he said it.

Back on the Painting for a while sorry there was nothing to show today, just plans and intentions. If you would like to suggest which factions would best suit different Rejects who am I to stop you I have ideas of my own of course but I am always open to hearing another's view.

Until Saturday take care and hope to see you all online soon.

All the best Clint

  1. Good luck with this brave adventure (having the gruesome twosome in a game as well as the evil mastermind) I'm sure it'll be a great deal of fun.

    1. Yes and I have to decide if they are on the same side, or against each other! Ahh the horror. Thank you Jo.

  2. Postie want's "tanks and planes"...I'm guessing he was being fasecious with reference to his teams 'spectacular' use of these machines in the Alam Halfa game last weekend. As I recall their aircraft either didn't arrive or couldn't hit a barn door and their tanks were bursting into flames at the mearest hint of enemy fire! The dice gods are fickle, but I was just glad it wasn't happening to me for a change!!

    1. There was some talk of you passing your luck to John. I did feel sorry for John....but he would not want my sympathy I am sure. Well SCW tanks do tend to be of the Light tank variety. And Air support was not at all common. I have offered to Lend Postie "Land and Freedom" as He has not seen it! It might help everyone if they watch it, It would be quicker than reading books on the war.

Any Preference to what you would choose to play Sir?

  3. I'd imagine Postie would be with the Facists as he does need to maintain his evil mastermind persona. Fran is obiviously the leader of the Irish forces, and Ray will be a facist because the uniforms all match! ;) But of course Ray could be a rebel as the abundance of flags and banners would make up for lack of uniformity! ;)
Sounds like great fun, and once again I am jealous of of the gaming goodness you have across the pond! ;)

    1. I can see Postie as a Fascist. But I could also see him as an Anarchist! Again I can see Fran as an Irish company of the International Brigade or as Civilia Garda, but not as Assualto Gardia. Strangely Ray could be Assaulto Gardia or anything with sombreros.....

As Lee has already commented I will say nothing more at this stage.
Thanks David Well if you are ever over this side of the pond and fancy a game..... The offer is there.

  5. He does realise that the tanks and planes of the SCW were fairly weak devices, doesn't he? At least, compared with what came a few years later.

    1. If he does not he'll soon find out. I have mentioned it but one never knows if it sinks in. I think he was making a joke the more I think of it,

      Thank you Colgar.

  6. I know a little about the SCW, but not a great deal. But I've always fancied the idea of it though. I do actual own a few unpainted 20mm figures for the SCW, I believe they're Moroccans of some sort??? I'm easy on which side I'm on, but Postie should definitely be a Fascist, as for Fran, which side hid behind bushes and walls the most?????

    1. Thank you Ray Postie for Fascist seems a popular choice He could equally be a commissar though! Very likely they are Moroccans then assuming they have a "small" turban Very good troops. As for a Hedge Hugger force, I have been lead to believe that even If I gave Fran a dedicated Assaulting force the result might be the same. Time will tell though.
