Something a little different

What skip from project to project, that sounds most unlike me! Ok it sounds exactly like me really. Today I have a cryx warmachine defiler. Warmachine was one of those games that came to the club quickly was played 4-5 times and has not been seen since. Like many games before it and I think for many games still to come. Games that the designers have not even thought about yet.

So I still have most of my figures left to paint. But not wanting good figures to go to waste I will slowly carry on with them. I suspect I will have retired long before I finish them at this rate or 1 every 18 months or longer.

This was a happy distraction while I wait for some SCW figures to appear. They seem to be taking a long while just yet, but that may be because I want them. So while I wait for them I am just going through my back collection and finishing things that have been hanging around a while.

So that's it for today I shall update on Wednesday. Until then take care and look after yourself.

All the best Clint

  1. Ah the warmachine, very popular with a handful of players in our area, too. I never liked it, I can't even say why.

That's a great miniature, however and I really like the basing, toxic!

Also,it's not called distraction but variation, and it helps with the "primary" projects!

    1. Thank you Mathyoo. I know what you mean I was never really into warmachine, I think it was because everything was a "special" and there were no standard troops. Kind of put me off.

Distraction/variation/procrastination Call it what you will

  2. That's a very strange-looking beast/robot/creature/thing. I'm not sure which end is the front or the back (or even if it's the right way up :-) )!

    1. I know what you mean. It is part robot, part undead, part pirate, part magic.... and wholly strange. I have always taken the skull to be the front though.

Cheers Mate great comment (made me grin)

  3. I'm really not sure what to make of this, Clint, and I can't decide if I like it or not. It is different, I'll grant you that. I know nothing about Warmachine but I could see that being used in a Victorian Steampunk type of game as some mad scientist's weird construct/experiment.

    1. I do know what you mean. It looks to me as if it is some kind of Robotic chicken! But it was fun to paint as it gave me a chance to paint some rust which I found a challenge to get right. Thank you Bryan

  4. Well, I'm flummaxxed by this as I haven't a clue what to make of this, although it is vaguely camel-like.
Warmachine was very popular at a club near me but is talked about much less now, yet another 5 day wonder I suspect (like a few current kickstarters I think.)

    1. Warmachine has not been played at my club for over a year. I agree I think it is a five day wonder, but I had the figure and some spare time so I thought to get it done. I shall be back to painting normal things before you Know it...... already submitted 2 lots to the Painting challenge. Thank you Jo.

    1. Thank you Michael. It was a fun and frustrating thing to paint but I am happy with how it turned out. The Ooze on the other hand was a simple job, if only all bases could come out like that!

    1. The base effect is really easy to do. It is a wet on wet technique. Paint the first colour then apply the second before it is dry and they should flow into each other. Thank you Dean Glad you like it.

  10. That is nice and very well done there. I do like the rusting decay of it and the base finishes it off

  12. Once again, nice machine, Clint! Very Cryx distressed looking! I have a sizable Cygnar horde because they are blue, the arcane tempest gun mages wear tricorns and overall remind me of the movie" Stardust", and did I mention Blue!? ;)

    1. One of my club has Cygnar and some BLUE gun mages. A good force. Thank you David. Warmachine is not really my thing but it was nice to paint it.
