Well today I have continued with my 20mm soft plastic Zombies. AS you will probably recall these are from the Boardgame "Zombies" and as such all have the same pose so it really is just a case of painting them in different colours. Needless to say some will be "dressed" the same as there are 100 to do in all. After a while it does get fairly boring and repetitive, but if I treat it like work and not my hobby I can get through it without any stress.
Again as mentioned before these are for another Play by blog game and this batch brings me up to 50 zombies complete. Yes I know 50 Zeds is not such a huge horde but they all start small.
That's it for today folks. For those of you playing with the ships make sure I have your turn so I can progress it over the weekend. I probably will not get it posted up on Saturday but will try to get the ship moves up by Sunday 10am (local time) so expect that to be my next post. Thanks fpor popping by and more again soon, all the best Clint.
You are certainly mange to get a lot of variation on a single pose Clint, great job.
ReplyDeleteThank you Michael. They are just horde zombies though so roughly painted but should look OK en-mass.
DeleteI think painting 50 zombies would get to me as well. There's no way I could do 100. If I needed 100 zeds, I'd call on Paint Monkey to do them for me :0)
ReplyDeleteAs long as you did a little at a time and had breaks in between you could do 500 I suspect, I don't spend much time on these, just a white undercoat then base colours followed by a red wash over the flesh and a brown wash over everything and put them on the varnishing table.
DeleteThe Joy is I am now ready to start some Queen Anne's War 15mm figures. Thank you Anne.
I'd hate to paint 100 zombies (or 100 of any figure) in the same pose. The urge to convert at least some of them would be too great. As an idea to break up the monotony, why not cut off some arms? Take a drill or pin vice and drill some holes in them. These are simple conversions without resorting to modelling putty. Having said that, your paint schemes are working well.
ReplyDeleteThank you Bryan. I wanted to get at least 1/2 done before I started any conversions. I will heat a few limbs and bend them to get a few hands up and that sort of thing. But I will keep them all very simple just to get the basics done.
DeleteLove the background you are getting a variety feel with your painting.
ReplyDeleteVariety stops me getting bored. Thank you Robert. Queen Anne's War is started now. Should have a few things to shoe next week.
DeleteGreat to see more zombies on your blog dude. Your doing a fine job with one pose little buggers.
ReplyDeleteCheers Bob.
Delete"not such a huge horde". Tell *that* to the poor guy who they corner in a cul-de-sac!
ReplyDeleteI didn't realise initially that they were all the same pose; I had to go back and look.
I will take the fact you had to go back and check the pose to be a big compliment. Thank you C6. And I agree if you were facing 50 zeds on your own that might be a little daunting.
DeleteClint are you mad, 100 zeds, thats not nearly enough. They do look good chap
ReplyDeleteI know 100 zeds is not enough but it is enough to get started with. Thank you Petal
DeleteYou're a braver man than I, sir. I'd lose my nut grinding out all those zeds. I agree with Bryan; sling a few conversions in there so you don't sicken yourself. cut some in half. Half the zed = half the painting. Science.
ReplyDeleteAs mentioned above I want at least half of them in the original pose. Now That I have achieved that some simple conversions are probable. Thank you Hunter.
DeleteAll good stuff Clint, even if in the same position they're certainly fit for purpose.
ReplyDeleteThere are times when you just have to bash through the painting. And with repetitious painting that is certainly the case. I should have some Queen Anne's War figures finished soon. Thank you Joe.
DeleteComing along nicely and as Joe says they are certainly fit for the job intended!
ReplyDeleteYes I have to agree they are not masterpieces by any stretch of the imagination. But they will do. Thank you Simon.
DeleteGreat stuff Clint!
ReplyDeleteThank you Ray. I will have something much more up your street later this week.
Deletenice looking zombies :)
ReplyDeleteThank you Hobby worker. Very basically painted, but they will do for now.
DeleteWell done for getting your horde so far Clint! Looking good!
ReplyDeleteCheers Ad. About 1/2 way now. More to do in Zombtober of course!
