10mm Sams

Well long time blog members will remember that I have been painting 10mm samurai on and off for a few years. It has been 10 months since I painted any. So yes here are a few more before I get the Paint Monkey to paint some more 28mm figures for Matt.

So here they are 10mm Pendraken Mounted Samurai armed with Yari. 13 in all and I have yet to do the sashimono back banners. Clearly these are destined for my red army. 4 Bases of 3 figures and a single figure on a 20mm square base to represent a general. I have an equal about to still do for my blue/grey army. They will be about the last of my figures done and there will be 2 armies (or else).

Thanks for looking today. I hope you are all well and happy take care and with luck, see you all soon. All the best Clint

  1. Always good to know that PM gets some time off to add to his own forces.

  2. Looking good.

If Pendraken ever added to their existing range with a few more poses, I'd probably jump into the period.

    1. Thanks Roy. The Samurai are an older Pendraken Range so they tend to be limited poses as you say. If you choose to you could add other manufactures as well (Old glory, Magister Militum, Minifigs etc...) but then there are compatibility issues sometimes.

    1. Thanks Bob. I know what you mean. I would steer clear of 54 mm and 2mm. for similar reasons.

  4. I know you like this scale so it's a good thing that you got it in before Paint Monkey is forced into 28mm again.

    Well done Clint!

    1. Thank you Anne. For wargames 10mm really is such a good scale, the figures are stronger and easier to store, yet (despite my painting) have a load of detail.

  5. Lovely stuff Clint. I'm a big fan of Pendraken WW2 but was slightly put off their ECW ranges for the reason you mention above (i.e. limited poses). Though they have significantly increased that range recently. Very impressed by your bases btw :-)

    1. Thank you Michael. I will admit I am tired of painting 10mm Sams so had to have a break. Was not expecting the break to be 10 months though.

  7. These are a good addition to your samurai army. They appear to be moving at a fair gallop.

    1. Thank you Bryan. It is a shame that all the castings are the same. And yes they do look like they are going fast. ! more Cav unit to do then that should be enough. Cav should be quite rare in a 16-17th century Japan game after all.

So we can expect group shots after the blue ones are done? :)
