12 ACW figs

Well here are some more from the Analogue painting challenge. !2 28mm ACW Plastic Perry miniatures. I managed to source these from young Ray with some of my Birthday money. Despite the fact that I gave up Birthdays many years ago people still insist on presents cards and making a fuss when all I really want is to forget all about it!

So please do not offer my any congratulations or best wishes or anything like that.

Anyway these are for me to try out the "Songs of Drums and Shakos "rules. Yes I am aware that the rules are for Napoleonic period and these were about 50 years out of period, but the basic rules should work very well. At least I hope so.

Not so much more to say about these. Perry miniatures, hard plastic easy to put together and fun to paint about covers it. I have some Rebs on the painting table at the moment so I would expect to get them finished by Tuesday next week.

Not drawing this out, thanks for looking and more again soon. Have some fun and paint some figures.

Best wishes Clint

  2. Some fine looking minis there, Clint, with your usual well-thought out basing to boot. I'd have thought SoDS would work very well for ACW bearing in mind the war was fought in a very similar style. Looking forward to seeing these in action as part of an AAR in the New Year.

    1. Cheers Simon. I agree the rules should work with a couple of modifications. Don't hold your breathe but it's coming.

  3. Great looking figures with some unusual poses.
There is a great argument that the ACW was more or less fought like a Napoleonic battle (in the early years at least) but with better wepons, so your rules should give a failry good game.

    1. Thanks Joe. I have also heard that about the similarity in tactics in the early part of the war. Weapons had moved forward though. Percussion caps are easier to reload than flintlock muskets for example.

  5. Nice group of figures, all beautifully sculpted, as you'd expect from the Perrys. Your paint jobs do them justice. I do particularly like the trooper in the brown hat (is that a RCMP hat?) and the trousers with the knee patches.

    1. Not a Royal Canadian Mounted police has as far as I know. I shall have to ask that figure! The rebs are started and if you like patches I will make them look more worn and ragged as I think it adds character. Thanks Mate.

  6. These look ace my friend but it is a pity you did those damn Yankees first.

I am planning on using Donnybrook for Napoleonics so I can see no reason to use SoDS for ACW as said is was very much Napoleonic. Mind you I would give Donnybrook a try for ACW too.

    1. Rebs are now on the paint table all butternut and patches. They should look a motley crew.
I was thinking Aztecs for Donnybrook! SoDS requires less figures so happy to keep it to try ACW.
      Cheers Mate

I try and avoid historical miniatures. I do admit those that do them though look fantastic.
