Ping Pong!

Today we have a parting gift to Fran (AKA the Angry Lurker). Postie has a nickname for Fran of the "Kung fu Panda". Ray also has a nickname for him and Fran for Ray. And neither of them are "Golden drop of sunshine!". They are of course FULL of swearing and extracting the urine! So with no further ado here is Ping the Panda by "Bombshell miniatures!" A very nice if small sculpt of the big guy. I hasten to add that this is not Kung fu Panda as Bombshell call him Ping and any similarity between the two are purely coincidental.

As you can see from the second picture Nothing like him despite my painting trying to make them twins.

So I shoved the figure in the post and sent it to "Postie, somewhere in Gravesend" And that should be enough of an address for the Royal mail to have no idea. Maybe some random "postie" will benefit from this  who can say.

Back in the painting challenge I have had a little upset. I spent2 days working on some (22) Sci Fi vehicles and when I looked at them this morning in the light I saw that I just could not be happy with them. So I have had to put them away for now, probably till next year as I sulk and brood about them. A word to the wise NEVER try to use an ORANGE wash on figures after 10pm. They really did look shite in the morning!

So here are a couple more shots of "Ping the panda" to be getting on with.

And now the 15mm Sci Fi is scrapped I will start some 28mm ACW in stead.  The first 12 are primed and with luck I shall have them done by Tuesday which is my next scheduled challenge day post.

Thanks for looking. I shall start the ACW figures later this morning  once the Primer is nice and dry!.

Hope you are having a good day. All the best Clint.

  1. Go ping go! Dumplings away!
As for the sci-fi vehicles.. I'm sure they are not that bad, and another wash or something else ( Sepia maybe? ) could rectify the situation? Or at worst.. a black old wash and do away with the original theme? It is only paint in the end mate :D

    1. Thanks mate. But you know if you are not happy with it you are just not happy with it.

So now looking to get the details right on ACW troops. Never painted and 28mm ACW.

As for the Sci Fi serves me right for rushing it. I am now coming to terms with starting it all again.

  3. I'm a big fan of Kung Fu Panda and that's a very nice figure of his lookalike you've painted. I'm sure Fran will love him. I know I would!

  4. I second Vampifan's sentiments, Clint. Cracking stuff and a delightful present which I'm sure the Angry Lurker will thoroughly enjoy. Sorry to hear about the Sci-Fi vehicles - not chance of a quick strip dip or simple re-undercoat I take it? Either way I'm looking forward to the ACW and well done on your Challenge entries to date. Good stuff indeed.

    1. Cheers Blax. I Have re thought it. another very different colour scheme may work for the Sci fi stuff. But at the moment they all look like Mr Blobby!

  5. Great looking Franda, with too many naming possibilities,("Ho Ping" immediately sprang to mind).
As for the SF vehicles, I'm sure we all know the feeling, condolences mate, but at least you didn't hurl them against a wall !

    1. You are right and no hurling or hammers were involved. It has made me feel "Blah" about the challenge and painting though. But I will sort myself out soon enough.

  6. That Panda is sweet Clint and I'm sure the big guy will love it.

I understand how you feel about those figures. That was 22 figures that you'll either have to scrap or strip. I've worked too late and done this before, but it's only been a single figure so stripping and restarting isn't so bad.

I do hope you get over the blah's as you're such a fun part of the Challenge and your up beat spirit would be a big loss for us all.

    1. "Ping" is the makers name I take NO responsibility for it. Thank you C6 every so often you come across a fun and quirky sculpt And "Bombshell miniatures" are all fun and Quirky.

  9. Ha! He's fantastic. I love the kung fu panda as well (drove a fiat panda!) and while there's zero need for me to own something like that, it's nice to know they make it - one day, for a fantasy project!
