WBQ 3 and my contribution.

Yes I know "How Very unlike me!"
Well in this current edition of WARGAMES BLOGGERS QUARTERLY
I have an article! Yes this is me who most self respecting school masters
would hardly trust with a crayon.
Maybe that's another story
and just to let you know wax crayons do not taste good.

Well you all know the drill.
Click the link Below.

(the Link Above!)
And it should take you straight to it.

Then ignore everyone else's article
BUT
Read mine and then come back here and leave
Pleasant comments or not.
You may want to just use my contribution as loo paper.
As most of you will have followed the game anyway so nothing new there.

Future game?

Looking to the future however. You will note that I am already planning the next game. It is all in my head at the moment but it is worth saying that I am thinking of WW1 air war flying among the clouds somewhere over Flanders. So If you are wanting to play start reading "Biggles" and watching films like "The Blue Max" and growing your moustache! I will start making the scenery after the challenge ends and also start getting the planes then. I will take requests about which side you would rather be on closer to the time. I envisage each player to be in control of a single plane and as there are no radios it really will be every man for himself.

But more of this AFTER my shopping sprees at Salute! And when I start building as you should know by now I will do a walk through of what I build.

  1. Kudos to you, Clint. It's always nice to see your name in print.

  2. A smash up job of a smash up game Clint! If you really are planning this flying aces thing then you must see the 2008 film The Red Baron by Nikolai Mullerschoen a great Germany film shot in English. If this is just thicket for a game you describe nothing is.

  3. I say! I (still) have a 'Biggles' collection.. does that help is a position becomes available in the next game?

The Red Baron film Robert mentioned is well worth watching to wet your appetite.

    1. There is always room for you at my game table.. I will put out a call for players when I am a bit more organised. I am hoping for 16 total players this time, 8 on each side. And I promise there will be no flying zombies...... at least in this game. Thanks Ian.

  4. Excellent article - I enjoyed playing in the game and then reading the article - very nicely done.

I suppose now that you are amongst the "Gaming Glitterati" you'll be getting an agent and going out on tour. Please remember us little people who helped you on your way up to A-List celebrity status

    :)

I really did enjoy the game and appreciate your hard work

    1. You sir are extracting the urine! Gaming Gliterati indeed.! I have heard it all now. The game was a success BECAUSE of the players. I do so hope you will want to fly this time.
      Thank you Sir.

    2. Oh I'm in for the next game - thanks very much for the invite

Can I shoot Ray down, even if he's on my side?

    3. You may attempt to shoot Ray down IF he decides to play and IF you have the skill/luck unless you are both on the same sides as that would be very bad form.

    1. Kind of you to say Dave. Kind of you to say.

When I do put the call out I will leave room for established players. But, while I shall endeavour to put players on the side they most want I cannot guarantee it. But Noted that you want to be the vile Hun (Baron Von Dochaussen!)!

  6. Congratulations Clint on a very good article, it's been a long time since I had anything in print in the wargames press, but I still remember how good it felt.
(the rest of the mag was pretty good too, especially the 28mm 'scale' article.)

  8. That was well written Clint. A nice guide for other bloggers to follow should they try to do the same.

Sorry I haven't been around.much. Some positive things have happened and it's keeping me busy. I'm not sure when I'll blog again, perhaps not until next month.

  10. It was a fine article, Clint, and enjoyable to watch, even if I mostly watched it through the crazed imagination of Edwin King.
I do have a very fine moustache, and would be interested in flying a crate over the trenches, if you still have spots open.
    Cheers,
    Michael

    1. Very kind words Mathyoo. But I deserve no real praise. We have both been in Play by blog games before so I can only claim marginal credit.

    1. Thanks Ray. Credit were credit is due. I would not have started the game without your claiming a lack of games that year.
