Frustration.
I went to a show and forgot my camera!
Still here is my meagre loot from the day.
The "huey" model was on the bring and buy and only cost £2. What a bargain I though. It would be rude not to buy it for just £2, so I did. Now despite my club suggesting that I might have enough "Hueys" I have not got many ay all, even less if we differentiate between "Slicks" and "hogs" and "medevac slicks" and (I also have a crashed one) they really are all vital if I want to lift a Platoon into place. I had best build a kit or two this week as I have a game in a fortnight. So FNG will get an outing at last,
As for bases, they are of course from Colonel Bill as I know he does a lot of shows and always has them so I know I can always rely on him.
WE did have 8 club members at the show (6 of us putting on a game), and 2 with only "morning kitchen passes!" And I think I spent the least money this time out (I usually don't) as there were a few bargains for certain people. And a couple of things I missed out on, and am now regretting. Drat!
Three of the Rejects were also there so expect a show report from Ray sometime soon.
All the best Clint
A platoon air lift? Surely that's for amateurs - a pro like you should be aiming for a company air lift at least :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Tamsin. I do not want my Vietnam wargames forces go over a squad or two. So A company is far too big, and bigger is not always better.
DeleteOK, but apart from the loot and the (non-)camera, were there any inspiring, fun games at the show? You didn't even tell us which show it was, let alone whether it was good for you :-) ?
ReplyDeleteThanks C6 the show was "Skirmish" a small local show. 4 games that did stand out for me for various reasons. A Greek mythology skirmish using home made club rules. A Battletech game (Because they are seldom seen these days, disaponiting because they were using more modern (post Clan Mechs and not the original ones).
DeleteThe Crush the Kiaser boys were doing WW1 American Mexican war (Not really part of the first WW, but the same period, well sort of.) And a Lion Rampant game, Interesting for me as I was thinking of getting the rules.
I did enjoy it somewhat, but it was not the best show by a long way.
I did avaiod mentioning the games as I know Ray Rousell was armed with a camera and will do a show report and don't want to steal his thunder in any way.
A modest haul there Clint, but as you say hard to pass up a bargain like that.
ReplyDeleteThanks Michael. I could have purchased much more but 2 of the things n my secret santa list were there and if I had bought either one it would be bound to turn up! The Huey crew are being painted tonight.... If I get time.
DeleteThe continuing advenures of you and your camera !
ReplyDeleteI must also say that this has got to be the most modest haul of' 'loot' ever, (second only to my own 'haul' of four figures - for my son, at the ebent I attended a couple of weeks ago).
My Vitenam set-up had a blue team of 8 hueys, a red team of 2 cobras and two pink teams, each of a huey-hog and a huey casevac., though the two hogs could obviously make another red team.
Thanks Joe that does sound good. I will settle for 1/2 that and be happy.
DeleteYou can never have too many choppers Clint! Make sure you get some speakers on them. Aircav!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Bob, not planning speakers. And rather than a Hog this is to be a slick.
DeleteI couldn't make it this time...too knackered after my trip to Duxford on Saturday. But it just means I have a bugger shopping list for SELWG
ReplyDeleteThanks Lee. I hope to see you at SELWG. Not 100% sure I will go though, have to see closer to the day.
DeleteI'll show the pic of the Huey to Smiffy, he will be pleased!
ReplyDeleteThanks Ray, don't forget to tell him the price! (£2)
