Tomorrows post today!

Bloody hell it's like busses nothing for ages then 2 come along at once. This was to be Saturdays post, but I finished it early AND tomorrow is Salute and I know it would get missed in the rush to see all the show goodies.

So Today I continue with the Empress Miniatures in 28mm for a VBCW. This is a 37mm Bofors anti Tank Gun and crew.  Again this is for Matt and for VBCW 37mm gun should have enough punch to get through most things, OK probably not a Mk1 Matilda but pretty much everything else. The gun was used in WW2 and saw much use in the desert sometimes mounted on the back of trucks "Portee". During the Winter War the Finns did use it very successfully against all manner of Russian tanks but realistically it was not deployed against tanks it could not penetrate. (Unless of course you know better NO KV1's were encountered with this gun.) In fact so many of these guns were captured during the fall of France that it was also used by the Germans!

However this version is to be used in the Very British Civil War. Each crew member has different clothes and head gear so it can easily be used for any side. And while I do not normally paint camouflage on my VBCW stuff Matt did ask for it. It is no particular pattern or colours, just what I thought would look right. and looking at the gun shield the silhouette outlive is broken up so I guess it works.

Thanks for Looking today have a great weekend and I should post again on Monday.

If you are going to Salute have a great time.
All the best from (Raining) Kent.
Clint out.

    1. Thank you Phil. It was great to paint. I like the scattered ammo boxes, which you can hardly see.

  3. And now it's today and I've just seen your post so to me it's Today's Post Today. Those returning from Salute tomorrow will see it and think it should be called Today's Post Yesterday... or should that be Yesterday's Post Yesterday? Time's a funny thing!

Anyway, nice set of figures painted to your usual high standards.

By the way, I have never been to Salute. It's too far and too expensive and like you, I don't like crowds.

    1. Thanks Bryan. You are correct todays post today now. But it is done ready to pass back to Matt tomorrow at the club.

I did go to Wilkos this morning as I thought they might have a police car the right size. I dipped out this time.

I shall enjoy reading all the Salute posts and looking at the games but I much prefer smaller shows. It is a victim of its own success!

  4. Great work Clint, I like what you did with the blankets, they really break up the dullness of the military equipment!

I had no idea non were used against KV-1s, but to be honest, it is a very sensible decision, especially for underequiped Fins.

    1. Thank you Mathyoo. I think it was just chance that not design, remember the KV1 in the Winter War was only involved for testing and was not in full production and battle mode. So the chances are that it would only encounter a few units.

There will be more VBCW figures to come this week. An MG and crew are already painted so expect to see them soon.

  5. A very suitable artillery piece for the period and the camo sets it off nicely; good choice of 'uniform' colours on the crew, as you say, making it suitable for both sides. What I don't get is how you can be so consistent with your excellent basing - very jealous.

    1. Thanks Joe. I have done that style of bases for several years. And while you say consistent I can see variations inmost of them, either too much of one colour or sometimes the wrong green or wrong brown.

  6. Terrific painting Clint. Very colourful and you've added tonnes of character to the figures imho. I especially like all the attention you've paid to the spotter's attire. marvellous gun team :-)

    1. Cheers Blax, the truth of the matter is that I get bored painting the same colours so I do try to make each blanket a little different
