Crystals

Not much painted today, Just these two bits of Sci Fi scenery based.  Just 2 coloured resin Crystals. They are by a small company called "Wargames Terrain Workshop" (LINK ) The joy of this company is that they can and do make the crystals in a variety of colours. Blue, Green, Purple, Yellow red and  Opaque Resin . When I bought these at a show they had literally just sold all the blue to the guy in front of me so I went for the purple instead.  The bases are the same resin as well but I just went for a simple desert yellow with some static grass. Nothing fancy or clever but better than leaving the bases purple!

These are the small Crystals on the left and the medium crystals on the right.  From both the front and the back.  In retrospect I should have put a figure in so you can judge the scale. But the small one is about 1 1/2 inches across and 1 1/2 Inches tall.  So plenty big enough for space marines to hide behind. Having said space marines I will probably go down a scale and use 15mm troops.

Talking of 15mm troops I will not be posting for a few days as I am about to start a new force and am prepping them at the moment.

All the best from a dull overcast and now raining Kent!

Cheers Clint

  1. Thanks for including a link to this firm, Clint, as I wasn't familiar with them at all. I'm very interested in getting a lot of their crystal scenery items to use in my games of Super Dungeon Explore. The game is set on the world of Crystalia, which should explain my interest in crystal scenery.

    1. Thanks mate. WTW do some nice stuff, a small company with some unique items (I like the Fossil Dragon... I am sure I can find a use for that, maybe a 7TV mini series!)

  2. Those are great. They look like something Kirk and Spock would look for.

    1. Thank you Peter. They were an impulse buy at Salute 2015 but now I really like them and am tempted to get a few more

    1. Thanks Gobbo. Simple to do as well. The base is just 2 colours of dirt/sand and some static grass. But they look good enough for any sci fi or Fantasy game. Unless of course you run Games Workshop and then they will say it is not a gw product and cannot be used!

  4. Great to see some coverage of "WTW", Clint, a company I've yet to order from myself, but one which strongly supports "Superhero, Dinosaur, Zombie, Apocalypse" by "Nexus Miniatures"; a fave company of mine which produces the Battlestar Galactica minis I paint from time to time.

    1. Thanks Blax, I saw them at SALUTE last year and liked what I saw. I suspect there are many companies I just do not know about at all.

    1. Thanks Matt. I do not suggest they are the only people making them, just that for me they were the source. I bet an internet search would turn up a couple more companies. But It is always nice to quote the source of smaller companies and give them a little recognition.

  6. What a truly excellent paintjob you've done on these, hardto believe that they're not translucent.

    1. Thank you Joe. Thay are of course translucent coloured resin. All I painted were the bases. But what a wonderful compliment of yours to think I could paint them to that standard if they were not already translucent.
