Hallo Sailor.

I was trying to post these up yesterday but unfortunately drying time beat me so I finished them about 5 am this morning. (Yes I know it was too dark to paint properly, but I was just finishing the bases). Again these are painted for Matt as part of his colonial collection. I have painted some British landing party before and these are painted and based to match.  No Big surprises about the colours I am sure.

There was a close u picture but sorry too dark today. So here is one with the flash and one without. I am confident you can tell the difference.

I do not know the make of the figures, but they are well cast and sculpted and just fractionally better than Copplestone (in my opinion). 7 In all and now ready to battle her majesties enemies.

All the best and I will post again very soon.

    2. Matt Crump & Clint: Figures appear to be Perry Miniatures, Sudan (metal) Range - British Naval Landing Party. Sgt is from the command pack, and the other chaps are 'at the ready'.

    3. Thanks Roy. You are not the first to say Perys. So I have to take it that is what they are.

  2. Nice one. Though I reckon the chap with the whistle really does need a sheep dog to complete the set ... How else does he expect to herd those camels! :))

    1. Thanks Roy. As it happens I do have a sheep dog (in scale) that I once bought from Stu. Maybe I should do one as you suggest.

    1. Thank you Ian. Yes 5am and painting. Like many people I do have trouble sleeping. And if you are up at that time at least best to be productive.

  9. When I first got interested in Colonials it was a photo of a Naval Landing party (In a Featherstone book iirc) and these do little to deminish my interest.
These look 'jolly good' Clint and do I foresee more of these with reinforcements, cannon and gatlings ?

    1. Thanks Joe. As they are Matts figures and as I know Matt likes artillery I feel some kind of large gun will take the field with them.

  10. Very nicely painted figures. You can see more of them in the flash-lit photo but the darker one is more atmospheric so both are good.

  14. Very nice mate! Have to disagree about the casts vs Copplestone though. Those are beautiful AND they are in sennet hats!

    1. Thank you Millsy. Everyone is allowed to like different sculpts. Having painted about 20 Copplestone sailors in the past I personally find these to be slightly better. Nothing wrong with the copplestone figures at all, but personally I prefer these.

    3. Thanks Stephen I get very inspired by others blog posts. It usually sends me spinning of at a tangent as I want to start a new project or paint a new thing. My advice is stick with what you are doing as you may well be inspiring someone else.
