Last 2 for now!

These will be the last two VBCW vehicles for now, although there will be more in a little while. Two commercial vehicles no doubt pressed into service by some faction or another. The cream and red one was a right pig to paint and came very close to being thrown round the room and wit with a hammer. If I can build up the courage I might re-paint it in a few weeks time. Where as the light green "Williams and Grey" delivery van was the exact opposite, a joy to paint. I will admit it did start as a lilac colour but once I changed that to the light green everything flowed. again both these are available from Tim at FRONTLINE cast in resin with separate wheels. These two are actually two miss casts and do have very minor imperfections but nothing I will worry about too much.  Knowing Tim it is always a bonus the get some miscasts for club use as he can't sell them.

My first real unit of troops is coming along. I will pick up a few packs of French Resistance from SHQ and maybe Grubby Tanks at Cavalier next weekend. These will be to flesh out the IT miniatures figures to create variety as opposed to starting a whole new unit. I will have to do a show shopping list this week (look for it in a post later in the week) to try to deter me impulse buying.

Also as it is half term I will be looking after my nephew for a few days which means painting time will be cut dramatically. He also wants me to play 40k so he can learn the rules (shudder). Which I must say I am not looking forward to. But hey ho he's only young once!

That's it for today. Nephew permitting next post is on Tuesday. Take care and have a relaxing Sunday. All the best Clint.

  1. I can't see anything wrong with the red one, they both look good -very "Dad's Army".

    1. Cheers Joe. It looks ok, but was a pain to paint, and think I can do better.

  2. I agree with Joe. I think these are your best looking vehicles so far. The typography on the Williams and Grey van is first rate. And the red van is very evocative of the period.

    1. Thanks Bryan. I did enjoy the typography, I think it shows. The colours are right of the period, but I am still unhappy with the red van. I'll not change it straight away, maybe it will grow on me!

  4. Nice work Clint, Ray has just asked me to put my nuts in his fudge for some reason....the sicko!

    1. I asked Ray if either of you had nut allergies. Thinking of making the Cavalier Fudge tomorrow. Might do chocolate and pistachio, chocolate and Almond or Chocolate and hazelnut! Not sure yet.

  5. You've been talking to Fran too much Clint, all this talk about smashing things up with a hammer. Nuts in fudge should always be allowed!!

    1. Yes Fran is my barometer for wargames social etiquette! As mentioned above not sure what sort of nuts yet. I know I have pistachio, but that's a bit Nigella!

  6. I like both of the trucks, well done!
Red is not a favorite color of mine; however, I discovered that blue and gray are my go to colors. All of my regular troops were in sabol carriers in my shed. I'm still digging out my wargaming mountain from there, but blue and gray are rampant.
My resolution is to not use them this year on planned projects, I'll be posting on my blog soon, but I've already failed! ;)

    1. Sorted then. IF I do repaint the small delivery van I will try blue and Grey.

  7. Great stuff there and to me the very essence of VBCW. Things like this are the very reason why I love VBCW and the 20mm you have gone with provides plenty of them.

    Good luck with the 40k

    1. 20mm does offer a wide selection to choose from. Which I think is the main advantage the scale has for VBCW. Yes I also agree the quirkiness of the mix of civilian and military, armature and professional as well as the many factions are what attracts me.
