Ghost Town (1) THE Dead.

Well I have struggled to get anything painted. Here are 9 dead markers though. Obviously for wild west shoot out games. They were originally made by Tim Wade from Frontline, but I don't think they ever got into production so you will have to find another source or start sculpting your own should you want any dead markers in cowboy clothes! Someone must make some though so a search will no doubt turn up something. These are 28mm in size and cast in resin. They were, I think , the first things that Tim sculpted. And while not perfect they do have their place on the games table and I am very happy to own them.

I will be the first to admit that these are pretty roughly painted, but they are good enough to mark where your cowpokes have fallen. There are a variety of poses and I really wish that I had a few more. I'll have to ask around club members and see if there were any given out. I know what you are thinking! and these dead markers do bring my wild west zombie game idea one step closer. Add to that that I bought some packs of Foundry Zombie Gunfighters at BROADSIDE which I hope to start the paint on next week and It' will not belong before "Ghost town!" Zombie west hits the club tables. (I am aiming for August).

That's todays very brief post. Thanks for taking the time to pop by and see what I'm working on. Hope to see you good people again real soon!

Cheers Clint

  1. Well, they obviously weren't "the quick"

Zombie gunfighters? That should be, err, interesting :)

    1. I will leave Zombie Pirates to you if you want! I know Zombie Gunfighters is a little bit strange, but a fun game is a fun game. As I like both Wild west and Zombies it was only a matter of time.

  2. Dixon make some nice, dead, 28mm gunslingers - I have them, though I'd like a few more of that type of thing myself.

Also I note that the woman in the long skirt looks very much like one of the "zombie fodder" figures that Frontline does sell.

    1. You are correct in your thinking, these were done prior to the "zombie fodder" and I think used a few of these as his starting point for those figures.

I'll check out Dixons, thanks for the heads up.

    1. No reason zombies could not be historical. Shelldrake from the ZBA (zombie bloggers Association) has already done a Roman zombie game, and I ran a WW! zombie game in trenches about 20 months ago. ECW zombies has also been suggested! So as gamers we are limited by our imagination and very little else!

  4. Casualty markers are a great asset to any game and these look very good despite your reservations on their paintwork.
The problem is manufacturers don't make that many casualty figures for any period ("There's no demand") and I think psychologically we don't buy casualties because of cost ("for that price I could buy a guy standing" etc).

I see no reason why zombie games can't be in an historic setting either. (Don't Black Cat make Roman zombies ?)

    1. I agree with all your thoughts Zabadak. I would rather buy figures that can fight than those that just lie there.

No idea about black cat, but "Obelisk" (a German company) did make some Undead camels and riders for Egyptian escapades!

    2. Black Cat Bases stock Obelisk stuff I think.

  5. Great corpses! I am totally with Joe on this one, I'd much rather get "actual" miniatures than dead bodies, but to be honest, everyone should have corpses. They really add to the table!

    1. Zombie games need dead as well as undead!

  8. Nice work, They come in useful and although I fall into the buying figures I can use group. In a low model count game casualty markers come into there own.

    1. I think we all fall into the buying "useful" figures group. At least most of the time. Some people hate casualty markers and refuse to have them. It's all personal choice.
