Silverbacks

These are not new, but I have re-painted them. They are both from Newline Designs and are actually 28mm Sasquatch or Yetis and part of the "Mythic West" Range. I purchased these 2012 at the Broadside show and painted them with white fur. This week I have re-painted and re-based them to better fit where I think I am heading with the 7TV game. Having decided that I did not want a snowy waste board for the game it made sense to turn them into giant apes as it makes them much more versatile. I can still use them as sasquatch should I choose,

Most importantly this change of colour scheme still keeps my options open for the game board.  I am fairly sure the board will now be a jungle of some kind but the exact nature of the game is still open for debate/discussion. It could easily slip from a type of King Solomon's Mines type setting to a Tarzan type game, or even a Conan style game. It all depends on what I feel like when I wake up in the morning. Which is both dangerous and exciting at the same time.  Your guess is as good as mine. To be honest I would not even rule out "Predator!" after all it all a good use for a Jungle. And before anyone asks " Ainsty-castings make some clear resin "Alien Hunters"  I'll let you guess what they may look like.

That's it for today, as ever comments and suggestions are always welcome. I shall try to do a board update on Saturday, please don't expect too much from it at present as I am at the sealing the plaster phase so much of it will look the same. Although some of it will have changed and I hope the first hint of colour will be applied.

Anyway until Saturday take care, have fun and paint yourself some nice figures. I look forward to seeing you all soon. Cheers Guys.

  1. Very fun
Nice job turning these into gorillas.
I have some of these minis, they're very nice, wish they made more poses, I'd buy more!

I'm always a fan of great apes, kind of a running joke in our gaming group, I'm always trying to bring apes into any game system we play ;)

    1. There is one pose I have not got (yet). So I expect it will be coming to me quite soon.

I have not as yet seen any apes (on the table) at my club..... plenty actually moving the figures though.

    1. I can't stop laughing at that. I feel I should say something in their defence, but with luck they will defend themselves!

  6. At least we have one, be though it minute, hint as to where this project may or may not be going.
Great looking figures and spot on brushwork, the faces are superb.
I'd have like to have seen a typical human up against them to get an idea of their bulk, so is there any chance you can do this with the next one, now he's arrived ?

    1. I'll tell you where the project is going when I know, I promise. I have ruled out 7urassic Park TV though. (If that helps).

5 new figures have arrived morning. More on the way as well. For 3 different ideas. What I don't use for this I will be able to use for other games. I will put up some man sized figures Thursday/Wednesday next week.

    1. The old man in a rubber suit from classic era TV series.... I know exactly what you mean. I was dreading you saying no do 7assic Park TV. Now I have said that I expect the flood gates to open and others to say it! That would be just my luck.... a lot depends on what Karl at Crooked Dice says when he hears some of my ideas. Although I know he'll be happy with any strong idea he will also have his favourites...... just like anyone else.

  8. Oh I do like these Clint! The brushwork is great on them too. The highlighting on that fur is excellent and those faces with those huge teeth are properly gruesome.

Jungle board-that's what I'm voting for!!!!

    1. There's no vote, but I do appreciate you mentioning what you'd prefer. I am pretty sure it will be a jungle board, probably with some ruins. but it may change as I go on.
