As regular readers will know I have not been in a wargames mood for several weeks! I know shock horror! Well with that in mind painting has slowed down and telly watching has gone up. Not that I need to watch more telly but these things happen. As such I have not wanted to start something new. As such I have been working through my Donnybrook WSS figures. Like the others I have painted these are BLACK HAT Miniatures that I bought a few years ago.
So today we have another 15 British line infantry including a Sargent, a drummer and a flag bearer. The Flag is the English/ British flag before 1707. So just right for Queen Anne's War. The flag changed and was different after 1707. From then on it changed by adding the Scottish flag but not at that stage the Irish flag which when all combined make up the Union Flag. It is only the Union Jack when flown at sea. I know it's picky to point that out so Moving on...
Now looking at it I have missed the white cording on the drum so that must be done today and then re-varnished. I do have several flag bearers but you only need 1 for each side in donnybrook rules so they may sit unpainted for a while.
That's it for today. I am still scratching my head and wondering what I will buy at the show next show. (10 days away).
Thanks for looking and I will try to get some more painting done.
All the best Clint
It's always nice to finish off figures that have just sat around in storage for years, isn't it? This is another bunch of excellent paint jobs. You must have enough for a game now (?), so when do we get to see them in action :-) ?
ReplyDeleteNot quite finished yet. Working on the last of the French Infantry now. Then I have 1 cavalry unit to finish. Thank you C6. I have already had a couple of games. I did put them on this blog on 10th September we played about 5 games in 6 hours.
DeleteEven though your mojo has deserted you at least you're still painting, which is far better than giving up on painting all together. Hang on in there, mate. I'm sure your enthusiasm will return soon.
ReplyDeleteI know it will come back. But thank you for the thought. Cheers Mate.
DeleteFifteen figures in a week is nothing to be sniffed at, even PM has to take a break now and then. But I think you should finish what's on your plate before getting more ! (insert winking emoticon here) -Just pull your socks up, get off your butt, turn that TV off and get on with it young man ! - as someone somewherevonce said (probably)
ReplyDeleteThanks Joe. I have hardly bought any new stuff all year and have finished off quite a lot of old figures. These will be a couple more.
DeleteStill PM has finished all the stuff he's got to do for the moment, but that should change on the weekend.
You think your painting mojo has left, I haven't picked up a brush in anger in the last month. Good work Clint!
ReplyDeleteThank you Bob. I like to try to paint every single day if I can. Talking of which my wash should have dried by now.
DeleteNicely done, they look very determined. Good detail for 15s.
ReplyDeleteThank you Michael. I can't say I am overly happy with them but now that they are done they are at least done.
DeleteLovely work Clint. Donnybrook certainly seems to be popular lately keep seeing plenty of it about on various blogs and on facebook.
ReplyDeleteIt is a good game very simple and easy to learn and also very adaptable to any horse and musket setting. Thank you Simon
DeleteLovely figs, Clint. I'm amazed their 15mm
ReplyDeleteI shall most likely get some more 15mm Donnybrook figures done today. Just working on the bases at 6:30 am, a bit dark out but OK. Thank you Dean.
