Turn sequence. |
Ariel View from the step ladder |
Spanish Ships on the left hand side of the table. |
The General Battle with those two Spanish ships getting closer. |
HMS Badger did put his fire out but now it seems to have re-started Infact he now has 4 fires started. While HMS Inconsistent has 5 fires raging away. Makes you wonder what the Spanish are firing! |
The British Frigate is rushing to join the action. |
SS Pina Colada also has a single fire blazing having taken shot from both port and starboard sides. And returning fire at HMS Pachyderm as well as HMS Inconsistent. |
HMS Agamemnon and HMS Challenge were both either arc of fire or range so did not manage to shoot this turn. Next turn however I suspect they will. |
Just a reminder of the shoal the British right are skirting around. |
The last two Spanish ships are now well out of the port. |
That's the latest update. I will of course contact those that have taken any damage and let them assign any repair parties. Generally speaking this turn was rather messy for all involved and no one did much better than anyone else.
Remember those playing I will need their turns in for turn 10 by 9am (GMT) Saturday 6th September 2014. And if any of you want extra photos don't be frightened to ask for them. I will try to get them back to you within 12 hours but please allow 48 hours just in case I am having an off day.
Thanks for looking folks and take care Probably update the blog on Tuesday. Have a great weekend and with any luck I'll see you soon. All thew best Clint
BOOM ! Are they carrying oil? What a lot of fires, and that's just what we can see. Things are getting interesting now Clint, and quite warm for a few.
ReplyDeleteCheers Bob. No Oil tankers as far as I know. Because the damage is random some games have a lot of fires, some games have none, Two of the Jokers start fires as well it really is the luck of the draw.
DeleteBloody Hell!
ReplyDeleteSorry and Thank you mate all at the same time. It's just the luck of the deal.
DeleteBurn baby burn! Eat lead you sausage eaters! Viva la paella!
DeleteThat'll teach him not to smoke cigars in bed!
DeleteMaybe it's the hot air..
DeleteClint
ReplyDeleteGreat report and pics again. I thought the 2/54 chance of a fire was high already! Serious fires were a very rare event in the period. Ah well, it's all the luck of the draws and karma. Ray must have run over a Buddhist monk this week.
Cheers
Pd
Thanks Peter. It really does come down to the luck of the draw. Standard fires and quite small and take a long time to cause any damage if they are not put out (5-6 Turns) ones caused by a Joker are a bit more serious.
DeleteAll I can do is to repeat the words of my admiral - bloody hell!
ReplyDeleteThank you Edwin.
DeleteOh boy! Flog your crew and they'll fight better, I always say. Says so in the scriptures!
ReplyDeleteNiark niark
Thank you Seb. I think you turned at just the right time.
DeleteHmmm... No mention of the SS Guano at all yet I see I am still ablaze. Given when happened to Ray I'm hoping no news is good news!
ReplyDeleteOpps sorry my mistake email now sent. Thanks Milsy I appreciate you telling me. I got rushed for time as the rellies arrived.
DeleteThank you Millsy.
"Makes you wonder what the Spanish are firing!"
ReplyDeleteExtra spicy chorizo of course a.k.a. "Spanish Fire" :-)
Thank you Millsy.
DeleteBlimey - in major naval battles of the Napoleonic period a fire was virtually unknown. I think there was only 1 ship that caught fire at the battle of the Nile (possibly 1 at Trafalgar as well?). Your ships do seem to be highly flammable!
ReplyDeleteThe damage is random so I have to apply what is generated. Most of the fires are small affairs and can be put out quickly. From the start of a fire it could take 6 turns before it starts damaging the ship seriously. But also fires are visible and I only declare visible damage to the public. But two of these fires were critical (Black joker) hits which is rare. Normally you would get one in a game at MOST!
DeleteThank you C6
That's a busy turn alright..someone call the fire brigade!
ReplyDeleteThank you Dave.
DeleteI'm glad the Badger is on fire, more kerosene......
ReplyDeleteThank you Fran. I am sure all ships will get their fires under control eventually.
DeleteBurn baby Burn! Things are hotting up (quite literally to!)
ReplyDeleteAll the ships are a long way from sinking. It could happen next turn but that really would be so very unlucky. So it's still anyone's game. Thank you Simon.
DeleteWell this really is a all hands on deck turn.
ReplyDeleteI will admit it did get off to a slow start but the action has picked up now and I suspect it will until December. Thank you Robert.
DeleteBurn baby burn... wait.. I'm on fire.. ACK!!! Ok.. no problems.. FIRE AT EVERYTHING!!!!!
ReplyDeleteEnjoying this, and the banter.. even if I am more in the shadows looking at it at times.. hope time allows more interaction for me :D
I also hope that time comes in your favour and that you get more involved. Nice one mate
