More Leather stockings!

Yes a couple more figures from the redoubt French Indian Wars range. This brings it up to 8, a long way short of an army at present but destined to grow a bit more . I can say that with confidence as I have 4 more started.

I started painting these figures from Redoubt after playing "Muskets and Tomahawks." Yes I like Native American figures I can't help it. Only met one in real life as far as I am aware but they were nice enough. So no complaints there! While some of the proportions on the Redoubt figures may be ever-so slightly off As I already had them I will not complain too much. I knew when I painted the last 4 which were just for fun that I had a couple more tucked away. Well it turns out the 3 or 4 I thought I had were actually 11 or 12 so yes you can expect some more of these to get paint slapped on them before too long.

Price wise they are £7.50 for 4 (+P &P) so I expect that I will get a few more when I next go to a show with Redoubt present. Just to round the collection out, not because I actually have a use for them, although if I try hard I can probably find a use. Yes Ray I know they can be used for Donnybrook! A really enjoyable paint and great fun trying to think up different war paints for each of them.

Thanks for looking today and with luck something else in a day or two. All the best from Kent, England and I hope you had an enjoyable general election if you are in the UK. And if not better luck in 5 (or less) years time.

Cheers Clint

  1. Your blog didn't update on my blogroll. I knew you'd post today so I came looking for you.

These are some nice figures and I like the dynamic poses. I wish you'd done a close up on at least one of them so I could see how you did the war paint on those faces.

  2. Good stuff Clint, and I especially think your bases work really well for these fellows. They certainly look useful with those clubs of theirs, and I can see why you'd fancy a few more.

    1. Thanks Simon. The bases were an idea from Loki at the great hall when he wanted his Indians to be in a flower meadow. I thought "what a good idea!" and did similar.

  3. Quite a fearsome looking war band, Clint. Well painted and as Simon said, your bases work well with them.

Please refrain from mentioning the general election as I truly fear fear for the future of our country. :(

    1. Thanks Bryan. When I get a few more done a group shot will be called for I think. I hope they all come out in the same style.

No more mentioning of any politics.

  4. Very nice figures...these Indians always scared me as a kid when I saw them in the movies...they still look frightening!

    1. Thanks Solo. They are intended to look scary, hence warpaint, and I am glad they convey that idea.

If you ever run through brambles leather stockings are what you need.

  6. Erm I hate to say this bit the legging were actually made of trade blanket material. Subdued and bright colours were used. These are not leather.

    2. Hello Clint, no problem. Look at the Galloping Major website. It has painting guides for some of the Woodland Indians and various Ranger units. Also see Perry Brit Saratoga figs, some of which are wearing Indian leggings. The various Osprey books are also great.
      All the best
      Simon

  7. I've always had a soft spot for the Delawares. This period means much more to me than the plains wars a century later.

    1. Sorry Tamsin I do not posses a Gimp Millsy figure. I should have looked at Salute! Then we could all paint them for the next challenge! Maybe Curt will set that as this years entry fee..... That would be funny!

      Cheers Mate.

  9. They are great, Clint! Can't blame you for liking to paint them, I've been looking for excuses to paint some myself, you can really go wild with the body paints.
