BUF (Part 1)

Getting back on my painting schedule after the Dettol Fiasco! Long story don't ask but I will confirm the Wilko's BROWN antibacterial solution does also work and is cheaper than Dettol!

Anyway back to the figures. Today we have the first British Union of Fascists (BUF) painted and finished. For those few who do not know the Very British Civil War. The BUF control London and a lot of the South East of England and are currently fighting the Anglican League who hold the rest of Kent (Along with many other places) and waging battles either side of the river Medway.  I personally live about 3/4 of a mile from the river so needles to say it is part of a VBCW that has sparked my interest.

The figures are "Musketeer Miniatures" Sold in the UK by Footsore Miniatures. They are 28mm tall and are very nicely sculpted. The faces all look very young and that is my only criticism. The Flag was sold by Solway and painted by Pete Barfield, who does so many of the flags.

They are of course for Mat and his ever growing collection and I will have 2 more batches to finish. So that should tell you what the next few blog posts will be. And YES I will do a group shot at the end!

Thanks for looking today and with luck and a fair wind more again on Saturday!
Have fun, enjoy your life and I hop to see you back here soon.
Cheers Clint

    1. Thanks Irqan. All the while I was painting them I was wondering if I used too much red! But seeing them finished I think I did not! But I could have over done it easily!

  2. Another fine addition to the VBCW set-up.
A few figures with painted on facial hair could solve your youth 'problem'

    1. Thanks Joe. I don't see them looking youthful as a problem as much as just interesting. A Wider variety is always good though./

  3. Nice work old man, maybe your age is one of the reasons you don't like young faces?

    1. LOL Thanks Fran. You may be right. The faces on the figures are well sculpted. (very well in fact) but they all seem to be the same. Still different hair colours will do a lot to alter that!

  4. Great job Clint! Love the uniforms. Try some stubble on the peachy smooth faces.

    1. Cheers Roy. There is a cheap Tetrach on EBay at the moment so that is also a possibility!

Cheers for passing the message on, I am guessing he smiled!

  8. Well, it doesn't seem unreasonable to me if these are all very young men (boys, even?). I'd think of them very much as enthusiastic youth rather than experienced troopers.

  9. Smashing looking group Clint. I like the look of the flag. I'll tell you what, young people today all look alike to me. They all wear those sillly ball caps and their trousers down 'round their bums. Couldn't pick one out of a police line up if I had to.

Dettol, that stuff is lethal. I remember the Great Dettel Fiasco of Fran and Ray. I hope your experience wasn't quite that bad.

    1. Thanks Anne. As for Dettol, I have worked in hospitals so am used to that kind of smell (and far worse!)

As for the youth of today, don't get me started with the way they look. I am sure I was as bad when a youngster though!

  10. They look as if they have trouble in mind, bunco of rabble rousers! Nicely painted though. ;)

  11. I say Clint old bean, top stuff there. The uniform these chaps have is spot on and gives them a no only fashion British militia feel without looking like there German cousins.

Also thanks for what you said about the flag and I do so like creating them.

    1. Thanks Pete. You do a really good job on the flags there has not been one I have not liked!

Thanks for the comment on the uniforms as well, they are influenced by "Ming the Merciless" The Italian army of the period, Spanish Assalto Guadia of the Spanish civil war and Hugo Boss (who designed the German tank uniforms)
