Hunting party

These figures are from Woodbine MIniatures, but sold in the UK by Gripping Beast. I will leave it to you to determine Hunting party or game keepers or poachers or maybe some of each!  They are of course for Matt and his ever growing Very British Civil War project.

As such I have painted them in country clothes colours and tweeds and it helps to make them look like they have been extras in a "Horse and Hounds" photo shoot.  I did enjoy painting them despite destroying a paint brush (Accidently) in the process.

Little more needs be said other than they are all 28mm figures and were well cast and sculpted.

All the best Clint

  1. I love these Clint and have a pack languishing somewhere at the bottom of the lead pile. Great use of colour, in fact, I think the chap loading his gun has actually stolen my cap!

    1. Thanks Michael. If I ever paint a purple top hat then you will know I have designs on your head gear.

  2. "Little more needs be said other than they are all 28mm figures and were well cast and sculpted" and very well-painted, Clint. :-)

Marvellous way to start the weekend as these are simply lovely looking. There's some cracking tartan going on, and the chap with the hunting dog is an absolute corker. Great stuff.

    1. Cheers Simon. I am pleased you said so as I have little experience painting dogs, but I was reasonably well pleased with him.

    1. Thank you Lee. They were a nice group to paint, very restful with no loud colours.

  6. Smashing job Clint! I do like these and think they would make excellent gentrified zombie hunters.

  7. Lovely work Clint. All you need now is a John Gielgud-esque anti-hunting protestor :)

  8. Fantastic work! Loving all the VBCW stuff. Always jealous too since that type of game would never go over well with any of the locals.

    1. Thank you Jason. Sorry to hear the game would not sit well with your locals. Let us both hope my next project will. Yes I am gong to start another project in the coming week. So hopefully something finished by next weekend.

  9. More great additions to your mate's VBCW set-up, but I reckon they have t be poachers with sawed-off shotguns (those barrels are really short).
Love the dog and the colours you've used. Tip-top brushwork as always.

    1. Thank you Joe, very kind of you. When painting them the barrels did not seem short. But I will take your word for it!

  11. Hmm, I can see a hunting scenario on the moors where the prey turns out to be not quite as harmless as it seems. Perhaps these four chaps and their dog discover that they are trailing a pack of werewolves, or stumble across a coven of cultists? Or maybe encounter some devil-worshipping Morris Dancers? I don't suppose this ever happens in VBCW, though?

    1. Thanks C6. I am not sure that is the intent of the game, but those are some interesting ideas

  12. Very fine work, Clint! Lots of possibilities for these fellows, as Colgar6 pointed out before me.
I especially like the fellow with the beard, he looks like a visiting nobleman from Austria.
    Cracking good work.
    Cheers,
    M
