Cavalier Swag.

Well not much this time. I was not on a tight budget or needing to sneak anything into the house, just nothing really grabbed my fancy.

Money spent was about £20 in all for the day including entrance and snacks. So enough excuses but what did I get.

1 Black scorpion female pirate for my cousin. (Colonel Bills). Used to belong to Roy so I am told.
1 Tub of black acrylic paint. (Tole Haven)
1 28mm dog cocking it's leg! Oh come on it was 50p well spent! (Redoubt)
1 20mm Recoilless Rifle (Grubby Tanks) Vietnam project
1 Milady de Winter, (Redoubt) just another 3 musketeer figure I just wanted to paint.
1 Pack of Japanese 20mm WW2 Airfix Infantry (Harfields) As I want to do some Pacific wargames later this year and you need to start somewhere and this seemed a logical start and is so much cheaper than eBay when Postage is taken into account

There was nothing for me on the bring and buy it was all over priced as far as I could tell or in very poor condition or just something I am not interested in. I am sure some people will say the best bring and buy ever. But not for me!

So no real splurges and very restrained and respectable. Yes I could have spent more and I could increased the size of the lead mountain but I am happy with this small amount as I now recognise that buying a lot and painting a lot are not the same!

I will most likely do a show report tomorrow and some of the games were very interesting. So that may be something to look forward to. And It my not we will both only know when te pictures are shown.

  1. A rather minimal spend up there Clint! And who doesn't need a dog cocking his leg, I ask???

    1. Thanks Ray. While Curt does not know it, it will be heading out to Canada with the Curtgeld. Just for a laugh and I am sure he will appreciate it, it seems like his humour.

    1. LOL Thanks Tamsin. I had £100 in my pocket ready for some bargains and some impulse buys but I just did not find anything super exciting. Well apart from the dog cocking it's leg of course.

  3. Yes, the female pirate used to belong to me. Now it belongs to you :)
It was To the Strongest I played today. I absolutely got wiped out! All of my Germans were destroyed by their Romans counterparts. It wasn't a fair fight though... The barbarians didn't get to outnumber the Romans by about three to one ;))

    1. Thanks Roy. I really like the figure and will start the painting of her tomorrow.

As for "To the strongest" The rules are simple and effective and do give a fast game. I do not know any army list well enough to comment but most wargames do tend to favour the Romans.

    2. I think the problem was me, in this case. Being only used to Skirmish-type games, and never having played Ancients, my deployment was iffy and my tactics can be improved upon.

The amount of Aces that the other three players drew as their first activation card was quite funny, mind :)

    3. We played Biblical armies and it was fairly well balanced, despite me NOT being able to kill ANYTHING in the second game. It is funny the amount of times an Ace will come up!

    1. Thank you Michael. Trust me if I saw something I really wanted I would have got it. But I just did not see anything that I was so excited by and had to have.

  5. A small haul but you got what you wanted and came home with change in your wallet. A win-win situation, I'd say!

  6. looking forward to seeing those airfix being painted Clint, always like to see what people do with them and 'modern' paints. How do you find the "Black Scorpion" resin to paint?

    1. Cheers Blax. So far no issues with Black scorpion. So very likely to go wrong now! I am more concerned with the Airfix figures and paint. But for £2.50 if It does go wrong not a big loss.
