Sci Fi infantry Company for Frozen planet.

YES I have started my Frozen planet force. These are 6mm (!/300th scale) Brigade Models (UK) CDSU (Chinese Democratic Socialist Union) Infantry company.

Personally I judge them more a platoon than a company. I only put 4 figures to a base (2 figures for a command base) and have 1 infantry base in a vehicle. For game purposes this should work AND it does give me some left for specialist heavy weapons stands and scout stands and generally just more infantry. Which makes me happy with my frugality!

The MICVs are hoverfraft (type) vehicles so of course I Ignored technology I gave them black skirts. I could so easily have gone for camo all over but theskirts in black just looked right and when on the cloth will look Ok and no one will really question why they are not camouflaged. Queue a flood of inquiries  from my players as to why they are not camouflaged.

Personally I like the figures and as I want this to be both a cheap project AND an easy to transport project I am more than happy with the results.

I suspect I will purchase more of these troops before the weekend. I still need an opposing force and am sure I want more Brigade models so It just comes down to which I like best on the day as I should be buying them locally.

There should be more from me very soon. So until then take care have fun and enjoy the weather no matter how bad it gets where you are. Or at least try to.

best Wishes Clint

    1. Thank you Andy. For me there are 2 main joys in 6mm. Firstly the cost, when a vehicle costs less than £1 having variety is easy to achieve. Secondly Storage and transportation. being that small they all fit in a single "Plastic wallet" which should be for documents but works so well for figures.

  4. Oddly enough, I too, was thinking of Ogre as well. I used to play that a lot with my brother. He used to have a 6mm Ogre and probably still has it tucked away somewhere.

    2. Did you know that 2017 marks the 40th anniversary of the release of Steve Jackson's Ogre game? There is a lot planned for it this year, including the release of a wide assortment of 1/285th scale plastic Ogre miniatures.

    1. Thank you Joe. I will pick up some opposition soon I suggest. But at present I am not sure which force to select. But I am edging towards Eurofeb. I will try to chat with Tony at a show in Feb and see what he suggests.

  7. Cool stuff, Clint. Yes, that's a bad attempt at a pun. They look ideal for easy to manage games, and definitely look the part of a Platoon to me.

I tried something similar in 6mm using Baccus6mm's sci-fi figures when Future War Commander rules came out, but it never went anywhere.

    1. Thank you Roy . I will also be using Future War commander as a set of rules. But I will (MOSTLY) be using Brigade Models as they are easy for me to get. I have a few more on the painting table as I type. BUT have yet to settle on an opponent for the Chinese. Euro Fed, German, British or South African, are all options it will come down to what I feel like when parting with money comes to pass!.
