Colonial era Sudanese (part 3)

Yep here are the last of the colonial Sudanese I have painted for Matt. The officers and the standard carriers. And yes a group shot at the end of all 24 of them.

You will of course have noticed that the officers have different uniform. They also have lighter skin tones. The officers are Egyptian and not Sudanese which accounts for the difference (just as they would have been in this period).

The flag  carriers are on the other hand Sudanese. Matt supplied the flags. As mentioned before he tends to have a lot of flags in any army as it makes them more colourful. I of course have no idea what the flags mean or represent, or even if they are the correct way up. But they look right to my uneducated eye so I will go with it.

That's it for today. Most likely WW2 next time, but no guarantees.

Thanks for looking, all the best Clint

    1. Thank you Michael one small error now corrected. Which I am thankful no one has pointed out.

And far to late to point out now as it is corrected.

  2. It looks quite the small force and I'm finding it quite the temptation to collect similar myself.

The tops of those banner poles don't half look sharp!

    1. Thank you Roy I am sure you saw my error as well and appreciate you not mentioning it.

It is of course corrected now so even if others spot it I can refer them to previous comments.

You are right the top of the flag poles are sharp... very sharp as it happens. I have drawn blood on previous occasions, but not this time.

    2. Sorry Clint, I've no idea what the error is/was to be honest. If you'd not mentioned it I'd be still none the wiser - But least you've spotted it and rectified the issue.

  5. Error ? What error ?
The flags do 'make' an ptherwise fairly bland (even if accurate) unit; job well done I'd say.

    1. Thank you Joe. Trust me there is an error and it has now been rectified. The fact that it remains unspotted is joy/mystery to me. But it is too late it has been rectified.

  6. Very nice Clint. They all look really good but I love the banner bearers in particular in the last pic amongst their fellow soldiers.

  7. Nice job like the simple colour scheme I have some to paint and need to decide on a colour but was thinking lighter ?

    1. Thank you Matt. Yes lighter would work very well. If anyone questions the hue simple say they have been in the desert and the sun has bleached all the colour. Thus they look lighter
