Spectrum is Green (SIG)

I have had these hanging around for a while. I also have some Highland cattle that I was actually looking for when I unearthed these. Highland Cattle... best not to ask I am sure they will be along soon.

Anyway here are 4 Crooked Dice "Timelift" security. Any resemblance they may have to any Gerry Anderson Puppet shows is purely coincidental. In fact to show they were not part of the Puppet show I have deliberately selected different colours.

WE Have Captain Tangerine He did start as captain Lemon but my cousin did ask if I would paint one in her favourite colour.
Captain Grey (again it did start as captain Charcoal but it looked better a little lighter.
Captain Tourquise. Maybe from the Indian Sub continent.
And Captain Purple. Of African descent but he could come from anywhere really.

I have no games for these planned, I just wanted to paint them. All finished within 1 day, undercoat to varnish and all because I cannot (at the moment) find the cattle I want to paint.

I am tempted to get some more as they were so easy and so much fun to paint but until I find a use for them I shall not.

That is it for the Bank holiday weekend. Another post on Tuesday.

Have a good weekend all the best Clint

  1. They look really good, those, Clint. The differing colours on the clothing and skin tones works a treat.

    1. Thanks Ro. As spectrum is an international organisation some diversity needs to be shown I think. (Other than LT green).

    1. Thank you Andy. Spectrum has more personnel than just the main characters (At least in my version) so differing colours are to be expected I feel.

    1. Thank you Dave, Captain Lilac was also in the running as was Captain Lime. I was going to do a whole fruit (Lime, Lemon, Tangerine Blackcurrant Raspberry etc.) theme. I am almost sorry I did not!

  4. I really like these figures and your alternate colour schemes works well on them. Spectrum is Green!

    1. SIG Bryan. Yes we can all stick with the colours of the show. I was going to do Lemon but I recall you did one Yellow and I did not want to copy you too much.

  5. How about - Lt Puce, Cpt Lavender, Cpt Mustard, Lt Magnolia, or to help Cpt Black, Lt Blue Meanie

    1. Thank you Mike. While I have no more to paint at the moment I will bear that in mind. Once you step away from using the colours in the TV series you really are unlimited.

    1. Thank you Citizen. It is easy to think of many alternate colours. And why should we feel restricted by what others have done.

  7. Aw, love this - grew up watching Captain Scarlett (dum, dee, dum, dee, dum). this is not the voice of the Mysterons.

    1. SIG Dean. I remember watching Cpt Scarlet when I was VERY young. (I got the DVD's for Christmas last year.) I want to build a "Cloudbase" but know I never will.

  8. Nice painting Clint :)

    Q. Is Captain Tangerine prone to taking criticism badly and then running off at the mouth? ;)

    1. Thank you Tamsin. I suspect you are describing me and not Captain Tangerine. But I can check with my cousin it was her that wanted an Orange Captain.

    2. Not you Clint - I was thinking of a certain "politician" ;)

    3. Thank you Tamsin, I suspect the comment could cover a multitude of politicians in many many countries.

    1. Thank you Michael. I am sure we could both name several colours that will never be involved in Spectrum. So I thought just a little variety might be nice.

  10. Excellent job mate. Just in time for the new releases to the TLS coming next month the Rocketeer and special weapons are awesome.

  11. Captain Tangerine? Hmm - sounds like a bad spray tan :-) . Or you could have "Major Orange", I suppose. In fact, I suspect we could all have a lot of fun making up such names...

    1. Thank you Colgar. I am already making the names up.. Captain Banana is one, while Major Oatmeal is another.

Seriously I wanted to get away from the clichéd ones and realised that perhaps there were MANY more than appeared in the TV series. I am beginning to think I should have stuck to one colour and varied the shades.

  12. These do look a little familiar....
.. and have you considered that your cattle may have been russled ?

    1. Thasnk you Joe. The cattle had better not have been russled, I will be most upset if they have been. I think the easiest way of finding them is to buy some more and see where I insinctivly put the new ones. I have probably put the old ones there.

Yes the figures are vaguely familiar but can't quite place the source just yet.
