Still BoBing along... but only just

Sorry for the delay. My Mother has been ill since last Sunday night. The knock on effect is I do not get a whole lot of hobby stuff done. There is still an AAR (actually 2) to be done. But I am not here to talk about that today. Firstly before anyone asks my Mother is recovering 3-4 more days and she will be back to normal.... well normal for this family!

While I have not done much , here are some more BoB figures. My alternative Back of Beyond force. All the figures are IT miniatures and cast by Tim (a mate/club member) and available here ( CLICK to link). As an alternative force I thought a British intervention might be in order. Thus I went for Indian troops, to be more precise Punjabi Indian Troops.

In the Back of Beyond you can get away with a huge variety of troops and as Britain at the time had Indian as well as European headquarters they did not always talk to each other, let alone cooperate. This did lead to some interesting situations including the British army uniform in India being dyed Purple for a few weeks, don't ask you are seriously better off not knowing. But this is what the uniform should be! Look at the pic on the right!

And that is how I hope you will see I have painted them. If it looks vastly different to this please adjust your computer screen! Again their is a difference in the Sikh and the Punjabi Uniforms Mostly based about the Turban at least for us poor wargamers.  So my second force will be Indian troops serving under the British.  This is as much because I like the figures as any other reason, but it still fits the background so I am alright with that. Maybe if my interest holds I will do another Russian (Cossack or sailors) force or Chinese or Tibetan who can tell. But for now this is my start of an opposing BoB Indian (Punjabi) force.

Thanks for looking more (I hope) again soon. Have a good weekend and paint like crazy IF you have the opportunity.

All the best Clint

    1. Thank you Simon. Mother is on the mend, she's 88 years old so she can no longer just shrug it off.

Hope to have more Punjabi's done in short order.

  4. Your first photo is a bit blurry but the others are fine. They look fine to me.

My mum is currently in hospital recovering from a bad bout of pneumonia so I fully empathise with your plight. Being a carer is very stressful.

    1. Thank you Roy. Indians I think were the way to go. They should balance the Russians quite nicely.

Great paint job on the mini's and a great choice of troops to take advantage of the eclectic mix of nationalities that BoB offers :-)

    1. Thank you Addict. If the game ideas work a club member (Tim) has said he will get a force. So we will wait and see how it goes. But I like the idea.

And that's for the thoughts abut my mum.

As for my mother. I do appreciate all the comments but this is one of my escapes so I will need to concentrate on painting figures more!

    1. Thanks Matt. I want the back of Beyond game up and running by the beginning of next year but I do realise I may get side tracked. But the second Indian Squad is now started (only base colours) so that should be finished by the end of the week. (Fingers crossed!)

  10. Having read your other comments i shall just say, great choice on the opposing force the colour scheme looks effective and should be very quick to knock out a substantial force.

    1. Thank you Dave I will be looking at a platoon a side. Yes I could go bigger, but seriously what would be the point.

I may have to look at getting some "Dead" figures though! And a Train and a Plane (or 2 ) and a.... you get the idea!

    1. Thank you Citizen. * more Little Indians should be finished by Friday. (Just putting a brown wash on now then if that works just the guns and the bases to do!)

As for my mother. she is currently saying she is back to normal. Which means I am expecting a relapse as she will tend to "Overdo" it.

    1. Thanks Joe. Yes the uniforms can be quite dull for the period. Not that it should deter anyone.
