Hoka Hey (and a few other things)

Painted these for Peter at the club he's had some kind of accident and broken both wrists and elbows, I do not know the details but we wish him well.

These are the foot and mounted figures from Hoka Hey Wargames (Link). It is in the Border reivers section.

I was given the instructions to "Paint it dark" and having sent the pics to Peter I am assured that it is dark enough! Again no work on the bases as I know Peter likes to do his own bases. This is fine by me and I am more than happy to leave it that way. After all less work for me!

I did ask if this member of the clergy was regular or secular and that is what prompted the Paint it dark comment. The figure was very nice and I would be interested in getting a few more it is also quite chunky as you can see. I do not think you would get so many to the kilo as other manufactures would achieve. However it is a very nice figure and I would be happy to paint more of them as they are hardly ever seen in the south of the country.

Meanwhile back at the Ranch (or other similar clichés)

On Thursday I meat Dave stone. Yes that is him in the picture! He turn out to be a really nice bloke. (I will tell the truth another time) he is in charge of Wargames Terrain Workshop, (LINK). Well when I say in charge his good (or maybe not so good) lady might well dispute that! A terribly nice guy and I am sure if we lived closer we would become good friends, no matter how much he would try to put me off! "No sorry Clint I am not in this month.... did I say I was moving?" kind of thing, you get the idea!

If you have not yet checked out his web site please do, I am sure it will be very much appreciated.

While out to meet Dave I did a little shopping! The APC is for my AK 47 force. The Panzer Mk 3 is now started and has already taken me about twice as long as the T-26 did! Yeah I know, This one came with instructions which made it HARDER! The T-60 is yet to be started I'll let you know how I get on! And Finally some Elephant tusks from Wargames Terrain Workshop. Do not expect me to paint these for at least 6 months. They are for a long term project at least 1 year from now!

Well that takes me into Saturday morning and some emails to send and a Panzer to finish hopefully by tomorrow!

  1. Great work on the figures for Peter, hope he has a speedy recovery.
Who is that weirdo in the picture ! LOL If we lived closer Clint I could well imagine spending more time gaming than making new pieces for the business.
Nice little haul from your shopping trip, shall look forward to seeing the painted versions in future posts

    1. Thanks Dave. Currently (Sat morning) painting the Panzer mk 111 so you may see that on Monday or Wednesday. Or it may get hurled out of the window in frustration. I do hope to do the APC and the T-60 this week as well. As for the elephant tusks, they will just have to wait a while. I was impressed by something you said and will no doubt have to put it into action. To which I will (I hope) be working in the shed this afternoon!) Let's hope that is cryptic enough!

  3. Those clergymen look very sombre, which is as it should be. Having met and gamed with Dave before, I can confirm he's a cool dude and definitely one of the hobby's good guys.

    1. Thank you Bryan. I cannot say anymore about Dave being a nice guy I have to tone it down somewhat. He is OK for a spud faced loser! There that's better and I KNOW he will take that in the way it is meant! (Unless I am a VERY bad judge of character!)I feel he will insult me back and all will be fine with the world.

  4. Good brushwork on the figures, which oes make me woner hust how small your lead mountain is when you can spare the time to paint for others!
Shopping therapy is always a good thing and meeting soemone to be able to put a face to them is a bonus.

    1. Thank you Joe. The lead mountain is scalable now with crampons and a rope. And sparing time for a friend is a good and pleasurable thing!

  5. Yes, I've always liked those Border Reiver figures and have been tempted to get them now Hoka Hey own the range. I'm not so sure on some of the newer sculpts they've added to the original line, but overall I really do like them. Top painting on the duo (or should that be trio? as I'd hate to miss out the horse)

Yes, I've had the pleasure of meeting Dave twice - while he's had the misfortune of meeting me twice! It'll be the hat-trick at Bovington show later this year.

    1. Thank you Roy. I have looked at them before with a view to purchase. So was surprised when he asked me to paint them for him. But as I know he is currently in plaster I do not mind overly at all. In fact it was a joy.

As for the email matter we will both wait and see what happens. no point making a issue out of it until it happens.
