Paint Monkey Rides again

Ok there's no horse! But at least I am getting on with some commission painting for my fried Matt. I have already sent him some rush photos of the first batch and he's content with them. What a nice chap.

So what have we got today? Well a mixture of manufactures but all North West Frontier colonial types. Yeah OK you could use them for any late colonial British army, but as I have painted some other stuff for him I know where these are going.

I was concerned with putting some small lumps of cork on the bases to represent rocks. But seeing the finished results I have no qualms about doing it again as I think it works very well. I won't put them on many more just a handful. One does not want to overdo it after all.

There will be 3 batches in all, this being the largest batch of 28mm figures. The last batch will have the flags so watch out for them at the end of the week (well about). 10 in this batch, 8 in the next and then a final push to get the last few done before I hand them back on Sunday at the club. If I get the opportunity I will do a group shot before the weekend.

So that's todays (well the weekends ) painting out of the way. Thanks for looking today. Have a good week. And for me (if no one else) is that I have found a new song to sing along to while I paint. Hence the Youtube link.

Sing while you paint!

Ignore the link if you don't want to sing along.

Cheers Guys.

  1. Now those are some lovely painted colonials Clint, and I'd be more than "content" if they arrived on my doorstep. I'd be delighted :-) Great bases too and I think the cork works really well. Good stuff indeed, and looking forward to the next batch.

    1. Thanks Blax next batch is more of the same, another 8 rank and file so nothing too special.
As long as I don't over do the cork it will be fine I think. As I went to school with Matts Brother I will pass them on face to face that way he can tell me anything he wants changed and give me some more to do! (I hope)

      Cheers Mate.

  3. They look really good, Clint. I'd be over the moon with them if I was into that genre of gaming.

  4. Looking good Clint (as always) and how could he not be pleased with them.
They are quite versatile in their theatres of was as you've said, but they can also face many distinctly different enemies on the NW frontier too.

    1. Thanks Joe. You are right very many enemies faced Queen Victoria both in the Indian sub continent and many other places in the world.

  5. Very nice indeed (as usual). I don't know how you have the time or energy to paint for other people, though - I can't even get through my own pile of figures, let alone someone else's as well!

    1. Thanks C6. The only answer I can give is that I enjoy it. (Oh and I have no mates, family or social life! that might be the other clue!)

    1. Thank you Michael. Just Undercoated the 3rd batch. So I am on schedule. I have put my reservations about the cork aside now.

  8. They are great, nice and clean. I like the bases, those cork "rocks" and flowers really make all the difference imo.

  9. Hello Clint,

Sorry, this is the only method of communicating with yourself I could find.

I've created a new account and blog in order to run a Play By Blog (play-test) game. My old blog only allowed people with G+ accounts to comment so was no good for such a task.

I used to go by the name r.a.e. gingerbhoy, but, again, have had to start afresh (annoyingly).

As you, yourself, are currently running a blog game I wondered if you would be interested in playing, or interested merely in seeing how another ran a blog game? Ideas and improvements offered (if asked), swapped, talk between GM to GM, as it's all useful I believe. This is why I asked to join in the upcoming ACW naval PBB.

Anyway, you know, now, where to find me.

Btw. Nice figures. I'd happily play with them :)
