The Friars (Squad 2)

Continuing the VBCW theme and most notably the Friars of Aylesford Priory the next squad is completed. I finished the first squad about 8 days ago and blogged them on 2nd July, so not very far to go back and check if you missed them.

Anyway here is another squad done. As mentioned previously the figures are Artizan Design WW2 French troops but painted up to look like British Clergy.

The bottom picture shows them all together and a right religious lot they look to. Following comments on the first squad they all have crosses on the front of the helmets (where appropriate) as I have gone back and added them to all the figures.

As mentioned it is a Battletech day for me at the club on Sunday. I am not sure there will be an AAR as such as it may be too detailed and therefore slow reading but none the less I will try to post something.

All the best have a good weekend and with luck see you online soon.

Cheers Clint

  1. Good stuff Clint - well done sir. :)

I have played VCBW with mate using his minis, and what has struck me is the inspired inventive craziness of some of the units, very much driven by fans of the genre. :)

This unit perfectly captures that. :)

    1. Thanks Citizen. I agree the level of craziness is quite inspired in the game. These were Matts choice, not mine and I will take little credit for them other than the painting.

    1. Thanks Irqan. I wish I could take the credit for such a clever idea. My troops will look very dull and unimpressive next to these I fear.

  4. Very nice Clint. As to the Battletech, I'd be happy with just some pictures. I can remember seeing this being played at some shows back in the 90s but I never really gave it much attention. Paper maps and robots stood in hex grid-squares just never did it for me back then. Times and my attitude changing and I'd be interested to now learn more.

    1. Thanks Roy. I fear you may be right that Battletech does not look all that good straight from the box. I may think about making all the terrain, but lets see if the guys like it as it is first!

    2. Looking at it now, one of the benefits of those paper maps is the ease of storage and having plenty of different options to play upon. It wouldn't bother me nowadays, it's more about the playing than what it all looks like really. And the maps, from memory, are clearly printed and are very acceptable.
I hope you have a good day of gaming!

    1. Thank you Mr Price. As mentioned above the real joy of VBCW is the diversity of units. Limited only by ones imagination and the setting and time period.
