BUF ( part 4)

yes I am continuing to paint for my good friend Matt. And yes it is more BUF! All 28mm Footsore miniatures but with head swaps and peaked caps and not side caps.  The peaked caps give them a great alternative look and I strongly approve of what Matt has done. I have retained the same palette as last time but adapted it very slightly for the head swaps. They still have black jackets and khaki jodhpurs and puttees and khaki caps. I have kept the red collars and cuffs and some red piping to give them that military feel.

The Flag is again from Solway and was originally painted by Pete Barfield (aka Panzer Kaput!) and helps to unify the figures. Mat clearly likes his flag bearers as almost all of his units carry flags and it does give them a great look.

I painted 8 figures altogether 4 with rifles and the last one with a sub machine gun. There are more coming (they are undercoated as I type this), so expect them pretty soon. Together with the other figures for the BUF this is now looking like quite a sizeable force.

Finally I missed it out last time, but here is a rear shot! No big surprises but you may notice the stripes on the helmets. These were again done to identify and unify the troops. I did think to do a solid Black stripe, but changed my mind at the last moment.

So that is it for today. Thanks for popping by and looking. I have about the same again to finish and then a group shot at the end.

Cheers Guys.

  1. Another corking VBCW posting Clint. I can't believe how quickly you churn these out and how awesome the finished minis look. If Matt ever tires of your work then please give me a shout :-) Great stuff and I'm looking forward to both the next lot and a full group shot.

    1. Thanks Simon, If I spend the whole day painting I can get 10 figures finished start to finish, But who ever spends the whole day painting? (Not me).
Currently on my paint table are 8 more of these, A VCBW vehicle and a helicopter crew so something finished soon I would suspect. (there is a lot more Not being done , that should be!)

  6. I wouldn't have guessed that these had had their heads swapped, they look so 'natural and it's great to see that the colour match-up works as I thought it would be quite a task given that you probably no longer have the first batches!
I continue to be impressed with the quality and quantity of your output too, but there are the two of you right? (You and Paint-Monkey)

    1. Thank you Joe. You are right I no longer have the first batch but colour matching within 2 weeks is not such a problem as my memory is not too bad. But If you were to ask me in 6 months it would be a big issue.
(I only call myself "Paint Monkey" when I paint for other people!. )

  8. Quite lovely work, and nicely presented. Maybe it's the flag, but I'm thinking they could work for slightly retro 40K Imperial Guardsmen. Very cool.

    1. Thank you Michael. I had not thought of 40k. But now that you mention it if you make some gun swaps I think you would be quite right. they would work for 40k as well.
