Wibble

Well here are a few more figure that I have painted for the Analogue painting challenge.

You may(or may not recognise them). I would have posted them a few weeks ago but then the very talented Michael A painted them and did a better job of them and I just did not want the direct comparison. But If you want to see how they should be painted and not how I managed just clink the link I promise it does not send you to a penile erectile dysfunction web site in a pique of spite. (LINK). But If it does it serves you right!

I have included a couple of work in progress photos, just because they were taken and it seems a shame not to pad the post out a little!

It may surprise you all to know I have never watched Blackadder! I really am expecting to be vilified for saying that but As the "Young ones" were banned by my parents as I grew up Blackadder fell in the same category and was never watched either. Do not bother telling me it is not the same, my respect for my parents even though I am over 50 years old is such that I just will not watch it no matter what you say.

I do not, of course, blame anyone else for watching it just that it is not for me. And I hope you will respect me enough not to try to coax me into watching it in a peer pressure moment! Soap box well and truly stepped off of. All the best Clint

  1. I might not be a big fan of WW1 but I can't help liking these iconic figures. It's hard to know what to say to someone who hasn't and won't watch "Black Adder" so I'll keep quiet!

    1. Thanks Bryan. And thank you for not trying to apply any peer pressure.

  2. You need to rebel and watch both. Certainly the last episode of Blackadder, very hard hitting and poignant still.

  3. Nice figs bro, even without the correct referencing ie watching the prog, you've still captured the character of the miniatures

    1. Thank you Gobbo. I will be on less shaky ground with my next few posts..... well maybe a dodgy post I will have to wait and see.

  4. Good job you aren't at school nowadays then Clint. They make you watch Blackadder (WW1) as part of the History lessons. We also had to watch a film about the ACW Andersonville POW camp during a Religious Education class once.
Watch, or don't watch, what you like mate. Doesn't bother me.

    Nice work, btw.

    2. I'm letting my attitude loose today... As seen on the Pendraken Forum's topic "Discounts."

Q: Do you ever ask for discount on your gaming goodies?

[my answer] No. Wouldn't dream of it. If I was the seller and someone asked it of me, I'd actually tell them to F' off and to Hell with their trade. If I (as the seller) offered a discount, I'd have advertised the fact!

I did warn them in advance though... "My answers may be considered blunt, but truthful (or even, just Yorkshire)." Haha :))

  5. I do like this group of figures, butthe despicable nature of WW1 leaves me cold. Are these intended for VBCW ?
I refuse to watch Coronation Street even though I was allowed to by my parents.

    1. Thanks Joe. They no doubt WILL be used for a VBCW and I would expect to see them in an AAR early April (I think) maybe before.

  6. Great minis Clint, and I entirely sympathise with your desire to wait a while for the interest in Michael's posting before hosting these up yourself. Having said that yours easily stand out in their very own right, and whether inspired by the TV programme or not (in your case clearly not), these are, imho, some of your very best paint-jobs and easily stand up to comparison with Sir Awdry's work. Indeed now I'm going to have wait even longer before painting my own in the hope that people forget about your wonderful line-up before I start posting about my own. Wonderful stand-out stuff, and I'm looking forward to them featuring in an AAR :-)

    1. Thanks Blax. I can understand the reasons to wait. Let people forget about any comparisons and then roll them out to a fresh audience. I cannot say they will be in an AAR but we will be having a VBCW game in this scale before too long.

  7. Whilst I appreciate your kind comments, please don't be hard on yourself as I think you did a superb job on these and it was great to steal inspiration from your renditions. For what it's worth, I wish I had done more with my bases like you did!

    1. Thank you Michael. I do appreciate the kind words, but while I think of myself as a good painter I think of you as a better painter. And I am happy with that.
