Cavalier '14 Loot

I got back from Cavalier wargames show a little over an hour ago. I will give an update for the show and report in a day or two. As always I did not realise exactly what I spent while at show. Only a couple of things were planned purchases But I am happy with them all.

Planned:
  • Patrols in the Sudan. Peter Pig colonial wargames rules I have an earlier addition but it has been revised since then.
  • 2 Crooked Dice St Searles Girls. I plan to paint these up for Curt Analogue painting challenge this week. More details of that next week.

Impulse buys.

  • Crooked dice spare head dolly bird sprue. Total impulse buy but I do have a figure without a head so that will take another useless figure to the useable figure pile. At minimal cost.
  • 1 can of spray primer.... desert yellow in colour and a mere £3 so we all know it will get used. Maybe I should have got 2..... I think a Green would be useful.
  • 6 pots of paint. All browns and creams as I will always use those colours.
  • 5 second hand Lord of the Rings figures. At 20p each a little treat for my nephew who has started playing that now.
  • An Early War miniatures 20mm Turkish machine gun. well regulars will know that this is for the Arab revolt game.
  • Also not shown. I'll have to look through my bag and find it. A Resin 10mm type 26 Pill box.

So not an amazing loot haul, but at least one with no guilt attached. I can use everything and most things will squeeze into collections that already exist. There were more things I could have bought, and maybe in the months to come I will wish I had, but for now that is sufficient.

Hope you have had a great day. All the best Clint.

  1. A lot of camel coloured paint there!

Limiting yourself to what you know you will use is very good discipline - well done.

    1. Yes there are a lot of Camel colours there. Believe or not that was not my criteria for selecting them. But I'll take it.

      Thank you Edwin.

  3. I wish my impulse buys would be that useful!
And cheers for letting me know about Type 26 pillbox, I had to google it right away and I've found a great forum about Brit defences. I am always amazed at how elaborate the Battle for Britain really was. You know, mostly its all just "battles in the skies, Brits win, Afrika..." :D

    1. My impulse buys used to be totally frivolous, I guess my age means I am calming down. Thank you Mathyoo, I can imagine you googleing each pill box type.

    1. Funnily enough I was offered WW1 Camels by a trader, but I declined. He also sold WW1 British camel troops, which was tempting, but I have no use for them at present. Thank you Dave.

  8. I agree with Michael. Just what are you planning with the St. Searle's schoolgirls and why buy only two of them? these are questions that need answering, Clint. Oh, and well done on being so restrained. Your willpower must be good!

    1. My will power was acceptable, but my pockets were deep which helped a lot. As for St Searles Girls. Curt's next bonus round is favourite characters..... what could be better than some Fighting forth!
      Thank you Bryan

  10. Sounds like quite a restrained haul, with nothing in it that won't be useful or fun. Very sensible!

    1. Money! Is the short answer. But also because I only need a couple of them at this stage. In my world it is better to buy and paint two than get loads and not get them done.

  14. Good haul.I didn't spend much at all this year but thats mainly because I had little to buy. Most of my big purchases have been Online recently and there isn't much else I need for the time being.
