Problem solved.

No not a dramatic all singing all dancing issue but one that has vexed me.  Back on the 11th September on this blog (Here is the link) I admitted than I had lost a set of arms. I still have before anyone says.

Cutting a long story short as I am now assembling (Prior to painting, expect them next week or the week after, a unit of sergeants spearmen. ) As they are being assembled I came across another set of arms that I thought "They'll do!" I have 1 spear too many and I think 6 sets of arms to many. A natural solution was formed. Simply take the arms from an Unmade spearman and give them to a man at arms.   And that very quickly/simply is how I solved the problem.

I personally think he fits in very well and while the spear is slightly long I have no issue with that at all.

Currently on the painting table:
  • Alien arachnid. 28mm (or is he!)
  • Lion Rampant spearmen. 28mm (in construction.
  • Zombtober figure. 28mm.
  • Pendraken Spanish Civil War 10mm Light MGs (possibly with a view to buy "Bayonet and Ideology!" next Selwg show.
So lots Started, BUT alas not lots finished. But at least I have this unit finished now (other than a varnish).

Thanks for looking. No idea what I will finish next. You never know it may be Crimson skies (still reading rules so VERY unlikely).

All the best Clint

  1. It looks like a case of serendipity with your find of spare arms. It's always great when things like that happen.
I look forward to seeing your 28mm scale WIP stuff finished. Best of luck, mate!

    1. Thank you Bryan. I think all is well that ends well. Not finished the other assembly yet, but it is on the way. So expect a unit next week. And maybe another a week after!

  2. As spears have no regulation length as far as I know, I think it's a good swap-around and the unit looks good to boot!

    1. Thank you Joe. I also know of no rules regarding the length of spears. Although it is noticeably longer than the units other weapons.

  3. I heartedly agree with both Bryan and Joe, Clint, a great looking unit and I would never have known of your arm difficulties if you hadn’t raised it :-)

    1. Thank you Dai I appreciate you saying so. From my point of view a quick and easy fix Once the parts were found.

  7. That guy obviously feels the need to have a longer spear than anyone else. Maybe he likes to keep the enemy at arms' reach, or maybe he's trying to impress the others? Ah, it works; don't overthink this...

    1. Thank you Simon. The spear is a little large but should be very good against cavalry. What is more I am not about to change it!

    1. Thank you carl. I used to do re-enactment using a spear, so a little trained. yes I agree the point end goes towards the enemy. And anyone in your front arc is the enemy! (Mostly did "line fighting")

    1. Thank you David. There shall be at least 1 more unit of these (Possibly 3 more) so it is very well that you think they have painted up alright! Spearmen next though, hopefully this week.
