Civilians

All together now.
Yep had a disappointing weekend. Oh well ! Could be worse and small things are sent to try us. As such I did not play any games at the wargame club. 2 were on offer, but not of my liking. My choice, so maybe I should be LESS fussy!

On the other hand here are asset of the figures I have managed to finish. They are by several different makes/manufactures so quality does vary.

1st 6
2nd 6
There is a height difference (which I like as people are of different sizes! There is also a difference in the quality of the scupts, which I am less keen on. They are a mixture of Foundry, Footsore, Ironclad and even a col Bills "Special" I am told but they just make up a set of Interwar civilians. They are  for MATT s I expect to see them in a VBCW context.

As I have a show this coming weekend I have been sorting out what I wantand am beginning to make some orders to be picked up at the show. Wore of this NEXT week.

Anyway thanks for looking and I hope you had a better Sunday than me... All the best clint

German Sailors with Rifles

Well here are the latest figures. 4 Ironclad miniatures German Victorian Sailors with rifles.  They are destined I think to fight the British naval landing party. (shown previously). You may recall that I did think the pistol armed counterparts would be armed with maces as that is what I was told by Ironclad at a show. In an ideal world they would also have 2 heavy/support weapons just to exactly balance the British.

I do think these will be used for "In her Majesties Name!" as part of the Aeronef  Fliegende Truppen. Possibly for a show game but probably not as we would all like, I am sure, to see a battle in the skies between Victorian era British and Germans.  Obviously as it never happened I have made the uniforms up. (and why not!) Based on reality with a healthy chunk of escapism mixed it just for fun.

As mentioned they are Ironclad miniatures. I can see these fitting in well with both the British and Brigade Games Aeronef game. You never know maybe a skirmish action as two aeronef clash is a possibility. I wish I had not said that as I fear I shall get side tracked.

Well anyway a further 4 figures from the lead pile to the painted pile and maybe an idea for the future.

Have a good day. Probably a couple more tanks on Saturday (or maybe something else) Take care, have fun and paint if you can.

German Heavy Infantry

Of course the German heavy infantry is robotic, efficient and uncaring. That goes without saying. (It is not true of the German people I have met! at least no more true than the English in my opinion). They are of course Ironclad Miniatures (LINK) and they could be any nationality of robot but for my force they just happen to be German. There is no badge or insignia so feel free to use them as any nation that you wish!

They are armed with a variety of unknown weapons. I have taken 2 to be burners as Robots tend not to suffer from burns and heat quite as much as a human. ! weapon is a rifle, No reason why they cannot use human weapons. The last weapon is big and chunky and is well I do not know what. But it should count as a heavy weapon and do a shed load of damage.

The last Pic shows the whole German force together for IHMN. It shows an armoured vehicle the Heavy Infantry and the normal (Human ) troops. And that should (I hope) be enough for the Germans in Her majesties Name force. And should give the Royal Navy plenty to get tier teeth into.

So now I have 2 forces for the game I need to start playing and get them on the table.

Next time something historical. I PROMISE.

Until then all the best chin up and paint away as well as your brush will let you.

The Germans are started.

At the Selwg show (last year) I was lucky enough to pick up these. They are By Ironclad Miniatures ( Link ) part of their Victorian science fiction range. I originally got them for "In her Majesties Name" and that is at this stage what I hope to use them for.

There are 2 packs here, the leaders and the men. So a rather affordable group of characters. Originally having talked to the owner they were going to be armed with Maces to give them a more "Tutonic" feel and personally I think I would have preferred that. Not that I am at all disappointed with the swords/knifes, but Maces would have bee just a little different.

That's todays very brief update. More again soon, as I already have 2 posts ready to go. And hope to have a third one before the day is out.

That is it as the thaw begins. All the best Clint

Cavalier swag!

Show report probly tomorrow.

Internet has been down here so I missed a few posts but I have not been Idle so posts will come soon.

However until they do ... Just got back from the Cavalier show so I thought to share the loot/swag haul.  Here it is.

left to right top to bottom.

2 28mm Panserschrek teams for WW2 Germans got Chain of command.

6 Lewis Guns. These will be for conversions for my diesel punk project. Which I HOPE to START this week.

2 packs of Anstiy castings (Tea chests and stacks of boxes.) generally useful but also I do have a specific plan for them.

4 28mm Victorian Science Fiction Robots. (Ironclad Miniatures) Wait and see!

2 20mm SHQ Modern British gulf war soldiers. To paint as BAOR troops part impulse buy and part I want to do some "Cold War"

1 pack of plastic slotta bases because I am running out.

1 pack of German Aeronef Digs.

2 rule sets (Gift from friend so no cost) "Triumph and Tragedy for BoB. I already have the rules so either for Matt or another at the club.
and the Spanish Civil war supplement, which I was not expecting and now I am thinking of starting SCW in another scale!

4 Pots of Paint. I always need more paint since I found that the world stops spinning if I do not buy paint regularly! (No it does truly it does and if I wash my hair in it I will never go bald..... one of these comments may not be true, but why risk it?)

1 other secret thing I hope to get painted as a gift, But if I tell you it will not be a secret so I may just have to stick with the paint shampoo!

That's it for today. I will try to get a show game report done tomorrow

All the best folks.

Miner Gun Team

Well here is the "other" gun team I was talking about. They are 28mm "Ironclad Miniatures" (LINK) miner Gun crew. This now allows matt to use the same guns but with different crews as a wide choice of forces may be fielded. Being Ironclad miniatures they are 28mm and as such will tit in with the rest of his VBCW collection. Which by now is quite large.

I have painted them all in dull colours to best reflect the miners of the period and the clothes they would wear. I am not saying they never wore yellow and orange suits just that I have never seen it. The miners helmets are a common theme but in reality I am sure a miner unit would also have people who did not work underground in it as well. So maybe it is as much uniform as practical clothing for working underground.

The final Pic shows both new gun teams together. Miners on the left and Fascists on the right.

Thanks for looking today more again soon. maybe an AAR on Monday. Until then take care have fun and paint if the mood takes you.

Another VSF "Tank"

Firstly I have not posted anything for a couple of day, just because I was not in the mood, no other reason. But I know that the longer I leave it the harder to post it will become. So with no more ado here is another Victorian Science Fiction (VSF) Steam tank.

This time for the German forces. What German Forces are those? Well none yet but they may, or may not be coming, as might a WW2 Chinese army! (JK well semi kidding at least!)

Matt suggested the colour scheme when I was given the models. It may or May NOT be what he thought at the time and it just may be my interpretation of what he suggested. Who Knows?

So I went for a steel metal finish all over but with a white turret. The turret then looked like a ping pong ball so I added a red top section. Along with a red panel at the front.  I then added some rust. Well I hope it reads as rust anyway and a couple of Germanic crosses.

When doing a black cross on a German vehicle you have to make sure it does not look like a Nazi cross, That would not be the effect I was looking for as in the Victorian Period They had in no way come to power.

I also painted the wheels to be rusty and then covered them in 2 layers of brown to look like dirt! With luck that has worked.

A copper boiler on the back and it is good (I hope) to go.
Shame I could not get the crosses perfect but they are good enough for the wargames table.

Comments always welcome and with luck more again tomorrow!

20 more Burpas!

Yes as promised here are some more Burpas. There are 20 in all from a variety of manufacturers. Although most are either Ironclad or Foundry. If you cannot see any of them it is because they are behind others. But trust me there are 20 of them.

There is a little bit of overlap in the last 2 pics but I just could not get them all in one photo. As you can see I have tried in the top pic but so many are hidden I really needed the bottom 2 pics.

They go back to Matt tomorrow and with luck any changes he wants will be very minor.... but you never can tell.

That's it for today.
A zombie tomorrow and then with luck a club game report on Monday. But as I am not in the mood for a club game I may give it a miss. You never know.

Steam Tank (1)

Yes there will be more than 1 Steamtank however at present I only have 1 finished so I can only show 1. (That makes sense). Again a little dark for photography but never-the-less I have attempted it. Hence the blue hue.

The model is of course an Ironclad (LINK) Miniatures model. The Smoke stack was wonky when I got it from a friend, so rather than re glue it I accepted it as it was and am happy with it being a little off  true.

I see this as a rather small 2-3 man contraption driver and gunner and maybe a third stoking the boiler. The Vehicle commander will most likely double as the gunner and the driver as the engineer.  You may see it differently maybe in your version it carries a whole squad. That is your choice.

I did try 2 different camouflage schemes but eventually settled on plain blue. The camouflage schemes were not working for me, perhaps I was trying to be too clever. So by settling on plain blue it can serve as a double role. 1 it can be a police vehicle for sorting out the local criminal masterminds, or 2 it could be Royal Navy Issue. I am happy with both of these ideas an it will look jolly suitable for the Royal Naval landing PARTY.

Either way I am happy. It was a gift from a friend and as such is doubly Cherished. I need to take a photo next to some troops to give an indication of scale. Sorry I did not I promise to do so in the future, maybe when I get the next one finished (Which is a very different design) If you reall the pic from 1st October.

That's it for today now I really must get on with the Burpas I have started. But first I need to go to town and buy some superglue to attach them to bases.

All the best Clint

Royal Navy Landing Party (finished)

When I say finished I actually mean finished for now until I stoopidly buy some more or new figures are release or well you know.

The troops with pistols have been seen before and are both an Officer pack and a Royal Navy brigade Boarding party pack Available here (http://www.ironcladminiatures.co.uk/)

Separately they are . Roayal Navy Brigade landing party with Rifles. 1 pack of 4figures. Very nicely sculpted and cast but not exceptionally so. And should your boarding party need longer ranged weapons than pistols rifles of carbines are the way to so.

there is a set with a machinegun but it is a deck mounted gun and thus of less appeal in a game setting due to it's lack of manoeuvrability. That being the case I probably will not purchase it.

We also have the "Royal Navy Support weapons" pack. Just 2 figures with 2 "heavyier" weapons.  The first being either a Volley Gun or some type of light machine gun depending on the rules you use. While the second is either some form of grende launcher or a form of scatter/shotgun maybe a Trench gun. As there are no descriptions it if up to you and the world setting and rules you could use.

These are painted with the feeble excuse that I can now use them in a "In Her Majesties Name" (IHMN) game. You never know perhaps I will. Several at the club already have the rules (as do I so it is just a case of getting going. There is no reason not too for me now.

There you go another blog post done and as the rain now falls It is noticeably cooler so maybe more painting very soon.

Wherever you are take care have fun and I wish you well.

All the best from Kent.

VSF Royal navy lboarding party!

I purchased these figures a few weeks ago at the Cavalier show sometimes when you buy figures you just need to paint them almost straight away. These were just such figures.

They will be prefect for "In her majesties name" or if I choose "Rogue stars" (but set in a Victorian setting! The figures are by Ironclad miniatures (LINK) and are the Royal Navy Boarding party. the officers were I will admit bought by mistake (I meant to get specialist weapons) and regular crew.  But at the price it would be ceorlish to complain. 6 figures for £8.50. I will no doubt get the specialist weapons a little later. I will also pick up the Prussian storm troopers and the evil henchmen at the same time. But that is for the future and for this project I have some Artizan Skypirates as well. for when I get the chance to paint them, but they have been waiting a few years now.
More of this later!

Fu Manchu

Well I was expecting to get some more Burpas done, but well I got side tracked.. This Figure is from Ironclad miniatures that I bought a year or two ago and then it sat in a carrier bag NOT getting painted. Then I found it a couple of days ago and Baboom! Finished in a evening.

While the figure is sold as Fu Manchu it va of course be any wealthy Chinese man from any period. I can see it being used in Wild West games, Victorian London Games, Modern Gangster games, 1920s Gangster games and plenty of other games as well. It is just a good generic Chinese figure.

Knowing the Chinese consider Red to be a lucky colour and the colour of wealth and prosperity I went for an all red colour scheme. When portrayed in films Fu Manchu usually wears Black or Gold but to me that made the figure to dark and I did not want that. So I broke the Red with Green hem, collar and cuffs and put a "Ying Yang" motif on his back. It was about the simplest motif I could paint and the back did need something  to break up the red.

The figure is 28mm and while not the very best sculpt you can buy is not the worst either so I was happy with it. And I was happy with the way the paint slapped on as well.

Right at the bottom (you have probably noticed) I have a picture of Fu from the movies just so we all know to whom I refer.

Thanks for looking today. I shall get Back to Burpas and to finish some 10mm figs (including the steam tank)and remaking some terrain and even starting a new Dedicated "En Garde!" force in the next few days as things arrive and I get spare time in which to do them.

Cheers Clint
