The Germans are started.

At the Selwg show (last year) I was lucky enough to pick up these. They are By Ironclad Miniatures ( Link ) part of their Victorian science fiction range. I originally got them for "In her Majesties Name" and that is at this stage what I hope to use them for.

There are 2 packs here, the leaders and the men. So a rather affordable group of characters. Originally having talked to the owner they were going to be armed with Maces to give them a more "Tutonic" feel and personally I think I would have preferred that. Not that I am at all disappointed with the swords/knifes, but Maces would have bee just a little different.

That's todays very brief update. More again soon, as I already have 2 posts ready to go. And hope to have a third one before the day is out.

That is it as the thaw begins. All the best Clint

  1. Wonderful posting, Clint. I think I would have preferred maces too myself, but there's nothing wrong with the swords either. Good work on the cloak and strappings. Is that an entire faction ready for "IHMN" already, or do you need more?

    1. Thank you Blax. I have not worked out points so not really sure if this is the entire faction or not. But I wil say NOT as I have a few more already started and very likely to finish them today.

I realised after I had done these that I had done the bases in a different manner so I am contemplating a change in the bases to tit in with the rest.

But going back to your question MORE!

  2. They look great! One of these days I'll get round to finishing off my Martian conversions inspired by Greg Broadmore's Victory (highly recommended if you haven't already read them), and then I might have to get some of these to terrorise them!

    1. Thank you Myincubliss. You could always use them as the goodies and not to terrorise anyone. Whatever you decide thanks awfully for the comment. And there should (I hope) be some additions along soon...... but ever so slightly different.

  3. This is not a game I'm at all familiar with but they look perfectly serviceable to me. I agree with you, maces would have looked cooler but the swords are still okay.

    1. Thank you Bryan. As the British are equipped with swords it would be nice to have a clear distinction between them. And maces would be good as they and the British are in armour.

    1. Thank you Carl. A few more coming this week. I have just varnish and gun fittings to do. These will be German Heavy infantry.

  5. Very nice Clint. Maces or clubs would of been rather cool looking.

    1. Thank you Simon. I can only image the reason he changed his mind. maybe there will be others with different weapons in the future.

  6. Very nice unit Clint, the red on the cloak looks very good. I understand what your saying about the maces, the swords are probably more commercially viable as they will have a wider appeal

    1. Thank you Dave. You are probably correct. And maybe I am also thinking of ww2 German stick grenades for which any link would be very tenuous!

  8. Very nice! I've a number of Ironclad's Prussians and British-painted-as-Prussians myself. Certainly are fun miniatures to paint up.

    1. Thank you Roy, talking of fun miniatures I will show a Col Bill special later this week. I am glad you have some Ironclad Miniatures all I can say is I do like them. German Heavy infantry are now finished as well. So they should also be shown this week.

  9. As good as they look (and they do look good - swords and all), I'm sorry but I just don't get it!
I'm sure though that the games will be fun and provide some amusing and interesting read-ups!

    1. Thanks Joe. No reason for you to get it at all. Personally I do not get that space marines are in bright colours but that does not mean I am either right or wrong. Likewise you are neither Right or wrong. There is no right or wrong and that is a good part of the joy to sci fi wargaming.
