Spring Skirmish Swag/loot.

There is pitifully little. It is not that there was nothing there, or that I was not in the mood. Just that sometimes I just do not need to spend money to have a good time. I  will not be going to Salute in a few weeks either, but I do have a couple of online purchases planned. Nothing so very much and I am sure I will tell when/if they happen.

So what did I buy?
  • 1 pot of Orange paint!
Yep that is all. No thing else.
However I was given a Churchill Tank
I hope it is 15mm scale. If not no worries.
I have also been promised another 15mm tank (M8 Scott GMC for those very interested!)

I have also been given a set of rules to playtest.  These are the Peter Pig NEW version of Bayonet and Ideology. Graham has suggested I put them on at the club in 2 weeks time. being a completest there are a few things I should get first, just to round out the armies properly as I am short of light mortars and light machineguns armoured cars and Republican Light tanks! And I know the players will always have as many tanks as they can get away with!

Additionally Tim (Club member and IT miniatures owner) Has asked me to paint up some troops for his web site and also to showcase on this blog. Some examples of the casts are shown. I am happy to help a mate out so will do this as soon as he passes some on to me. Some examples were at the show and I will be show them in greater detail when I get to paint them.

That is my news from today. I will do a show report and possibly a game AAR tomorrow.

Best Wishes Clint

  1. Well a free tank is not to be sniffed at and new rules to test.

    1. Thank you Simon. With the rules a lot will depend if I can get all the troops I want and how quickly they arrive. I know the Spanish Civil war is often looked on as being a poor mans WW2 and as such has less appeal. But for me that is not the case.

  2. Sorry to hear that you are not going to be at Salute Clint, it is always a pleasure to catch up. That said I know what you mean about sometimes not needing to spend money. I have quietly basing some rediscovered treasures that I 'found' over the weekend.

    1. Thank you Michael. Some rediscovered treasures are usually the best. I am also working on some.

As for Salute I just do not like the show! Too Big, FAR too long a queue, lack of seating, too expensive etc. It means I have spent about £40 BEFORE I get inside the show. For me I would rather spend that money on figures/rules mail order. But I do not condemn any who do like it.

  3. Not at Salute? OMG! That means no fudge! *wails disconsolately* ;)

A free tank? That's not to be sniffed at. It does look about the right length for 15mm when you compare it against the paint dropper :)

    1. Thank you Tamsin.

You may have to wait until Broadside for some fudge!

As for the tank it looks about right for 15mm, it is too small for 20mm and far too Large for 10mm. As I have no other churchills to judge it by I will assume it is 15mm.

    2. Well a Churchill in 15mm (1:100) scale should be about 3 inches long, which that one looks to be.

    3. Cheers mate. I am sure as long as no one puts a different make on the table at the same time I will get away with it!

  4. "I will not be going to Salute" - Gutted. I was looking forward to finally meeting you Clint. Perhaps next year? Looking forward to seeing your thoughts on the new rules and those painted minis.

    1. Thank you Simon. I tend NOT to go to Salute, As I do not enjoy it. Also the cost is (for me) far too high. As I said it costs me about £40 before I get through the door and I would MUCH rather have the cash in my pocket. Perhaps I am a cheapskate!

  5. Shame about Salute Clint, but hopefully I'll catch up with you at Broadside (depending on my shift pattern).

    1. Thanks Andy. I find Salute a victim of it's own success! All the companies push for it to be a big "Release" date and all the clubs want it to be their show game debut but for me it is a flash in the pan. Worth going to every 3-5 years but not worth the money every year. But I am thrilled if others like it as it really is each to their own. And wargaming is such a large sphere that all are welcome.

    1. Thanks Joe. I do like going to shows. But not Salute, it is just too big and too commercial and too expensive for me.

I have never liked the "free!" figure they do as well! But If I did I know many others would hate it so that is fair.
