Well I have finished my first assets. In PBI snipers are Assets and the Japanese you will not be surprised have the opportunity to get more than 1 sniper. So for now I have made 2. I will need to increase this number and may eve go as high as 4. For now 2 is enough.
So today is 2 sniper stands for ww2 Japanese army (Or Marine). Only 4 figures but I hope to have the first platoon finished by the weekend.
The chance to get 1 or 2 or even 3 Japanese snipers in PBI is quite high. It depends on rolling well and being brave. The Japanese in Pacific Island wars have a dice pool of 15 for a sniper. You may select as many dice up to that score but the score or pool of dice is diminished each turn by the number you select. If any of the dice roll a "6" then the sniper would turn up for the rest of the game. So with 15 dice in the pool it is VERY likely that at least 1 sniper will arrive.
The figures are by Battlefront and are 15mm in size.
Thanks for looking and with luck a whole platoon before Sunday.
All the best Clint
Looking good, Clint, and I can see why you'd want as many as you can get in your army.
ReplyDeleteThank you Bryan. You have up to 15 chances to roll a 6. So chances are you will get 2 usually. But you could with really fluky dice rolls get 8. So having 2 is a very good start.
DeleteOhh I like them.
ReplyDeleteThank you Irquan. With luck more coming soon..... a whole platoon. (But no more snipers for a while).
DeleteThese are great Clint, love a good sniper!
ReplyDeleteThank you Andy. I hope to do another 2 sniper stands in the future, but I need rank and file the most at the moment. So that is next. (Fingers crossed)
DeleteI'd say these are an essential part of any Japanese force and they look good too!
ReplyDeleteThank you Joe. I would not say essential but very handy and one would expect them to be in every Japanese army of the period.
DeleteBeautiful snipers, and I love your bases, realistic, beautiful... and effective to hide...
ReplyDeleteThank you Phil. With luck I will have the 1st Platoon finished on Saturday. Then we will both see if the bases work as I hope they will.
DeleteLovely painting (and basing) Clint, and I like the little background Ref their rules in "PBI".
ReplyDeleteThank you Simon. Having re-read it it is not as clear as I had hoped. But you get the idea that you have 15 d6 and need to roll at least 1 6 on the die for the sniper to turn up. And any dice you roll cannot be used in further turns.
DeleteThey look great Clint.
ReplyDeleteThank you Michael. When I count up and see how many spare figures I have I may make a few more. Might have to take my shoes and socks of to count that high though,
DeleteGood looking snipers. It's interesting on ways different rules are used to portray Japanese fighting abilities
ReplyDeleteIan
Thank you Ian. As rules writers tend not to have been in the actual conflicts they write rules for There is bound to be a whole series of ideas about what it was actually like. Also as rules buyers we also approach the subject with preconceived ideas. No matter how much we or they have read or watched we will never actually know what it was like.
DeleteNice job interesting to see how they do snipers never make much impact but they are fun to have 😀
ReplyDeleteThanks Matt. In PBI they do have an impact. The first time a sniper fires no matter what the outcome the target square is pinned. If the right square is selected the whole advance can stall usually for a platoon. Additionally They can select their own target. So in the rules a square with a HMG and a rifle stand they can select the HMG. Where in most circumstances most players would rather loose riflemen to heavy weapons. However these do tend not to be the most common results. And in WW2 in particular the Japanese were known for their snipers in common stories.
