I know it has been a while. But sometimes the mood just takes you. The figures are of course Ground Zero Games in 15mm and yes they are even part of their 15mm Stragrunt range.
Yes it is my fault! I bought the wrong pack of figures at a show LAST YEAR. So having no use for the figure I was eager to do something else. So I have for a year. Then the idea came to me. While I cannot fit them into my existing Stargrunt forces I can still use them. So the infantry are now vehicle crews IF/when they have to dismount. Maybe the vehicle blows up and they need to get out, or maybe the vehicle starts the scenario un manned. Either way works for me.
The vehicle is also freshly painted as well. I had a spare vehicle so in my head it was not a massive leap to do it at the same time as I did the crew.
So we have a vehicle and enough crew for several vehicles all added to the Stargrunt collection.
That is it for today. Thanks for looking and more again soon. Although I am not sure what exactly. It will have to be a surprise.
Have a good weekend, all the best Clint.
Post script: I need to be more active on the Stargrunt front! get some more games in.
Cracking good photos Clint. They look great all painted up, the contrast with the blue visors and green work a treat.
ReplyDeleteThank you Roy. being Science Fiction anything can be correct so occasional colour changes can work quite well. The Visor was the most obvious place to change colour. As for the green leggings and blanket roll I just assumed that as they were not front-line infantry they may not need desert camo everywhere.
DeleteWhat a delight to turn adversity into victory. I like your thinking and the infantry do look great as vehicle crews.
ReplyDeleteThank you Bryan. It only took me a year to think of it. That's quite good for me! As I do tend to get trapped in a set way of thinking.
DeleteMarvellous stuff Clint, and I like the way you've turned a mistake into a positive addition to your collection. Personally, I'd have been tempted to just more of the wrong minis and build another force ;-)
ReplyDeleteThanks Cleric. The old me would have started another force. I am glad I have changed a bit. So now I have enough vehicle crews to use them for everything. Even if the rules I use do not need bailed out crew at all.
DeleteThese look the biz mate, even if the rules don’t account for them, they can still add value to your gaming
ReplyDeleteThank you Andy. I will need to read the rules again as I may have missed it. I will admit these were painted following a conversation in the car coming back from Selwg. And I for one am happy I did so.
DeleteGood to see a return to Stargrunt Clint. Lovely work Sir.
ReplyDeleteThank you Michael. While I thought this was almost a SOLO project I was reminded in the car on the journey home that it was not. This simple truth lifted my spirits somewhat!
DeleteNice way to repurpose them Clint - and nice painting as always :)
ReplyDeleteThank you Tamsin. I really must try the "Gruntz" rules out as well. But most importantly I think I need get a few more games in with these.
DeleteVehcile crews ! - very inspirational thinking and they've turned out a treat too.
ReplyDeleteThank you Joe. Having painted them it does make me want to paint some more. But I have a few of Matt's to paint first. And then I am due to get sidetracked!
DeleteGreat example of thinking "outside of the box" Clint, and very nicely carried out.
ReplyDeleteI've not looked at any Stargrunt stuff, so you've just introduced me to yet more delights :-)
Thank you Addict. The old Stargrunt rules do take some getting used to but they work well enough AND are a free download. The 25mm Stargrunt is a little small when comparied to "Heroic" 28mm but the price per figure is VERY good. However I think the 15mm Stargrunt range s top notch and well worth a look. I would and do recommend it. Wholeheartedly.
DeleteLove Love LOVE SG2. Yes they too some time to get my head around but I loved the mechanics and use of different dice. They were also what we used for a big campaign at my club for about a year so they represent good times to me. Been thinking about digging them out again actually. Was interested to hear Jon talk about a potential V3 in years to come on Maples and Miniatures recently.
ReplyDeleteAnd great figs too! 15mm really is the only scale to do SF in
Thank you Paul. WE really (my club) should do some 15mm Sci fi and soon. 3 of us have forces so the only real excuse is that we would not want to. And I for 1 want to.
DeleteLooks like I'll have to get around to finishing my 15mm sci-fi and try out the rules.
ReplyDeleteThank you Tim. We all have things we should do. I for one have been very lax in carrying this project out as well as I am able.
DeleteVery nice mate. I must revist my GZG stuff as its been way too long since i did any 15mm sci fi gaming.
ReplyDeleteThank you Carl. This came about because of the chat with Tim (above) in real life. I admit I do get distracted easily but Sci Fi is where my heart is so perhaps I NEED to do more.
DeleteSome nice work Clint! I help run the STARGRUNT II page on Face Book : https://www.facebook.com/groups/283943865349112/
ReplyDeleteIf your so inclined !
Thank you Don. I HATE facebook. If it was another place I am sure I would be very tempted. I mean NO disrespect to you or any other contributor. I am sure it is my "hang up" and the fault lies with me. I do appreciate the heads up and am interested but previous experience with FB means I shall not visit the site.
DeleteNice stuff Clint.
ReplyDeleteThank you lee. I am sure Ray, postie et al are shuddering at the thought but not everyone likes Lace quite so much as they do.
