Yes finished this week. And yes there are things I wish to change. However I am not unhappy about it.
I won't go into very much detail it is a warlord games 28mm plastic horse and metal rider. I bought the figure on a whim mostly because I have never painted as ECW figure before.
I hope to use it as a main character in an "En Garde" force but time will tell if it ever gets used at all.
That's it a very short update. I did ask Matt what he wanted me to put on next and he suggested this as opposed to some of his figures.
That's all folks have a good day and may The Witch-finder general stay clear of your endeavours.
Very nice Clint, even if you don't build a force you've got a cool looking model, and the joy of painting you can always go in and add more detail if you want to
ReplyDeleteThank you dave. I do not think this will be a one off. But neither do I think I will build an army. In "En Garde" the cheapest troop is 4 points so no more than 25 no matter what. (and that just gives them a hand weapon.... +3 points for a pike or a musket and the points soon disappear. (Not saying a horseman would have a pike of course just giving point examples)
DeleteOh that's a corker, Clint. Definitely an inspiration to anyone starting an ECW force. Lovely paint job, and basing :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks Mate. A whole force might be a little too much for me but up to 20-25 I think I can now manage. There will be more to come, but not immediately. I might also need to read around the period as well. I really do not know much at all about the English Civil War.
DeleteFor your first ever ECW figure he looks great, not that I'm any expert on the subject.
ReplyDeleteThanks Bryan. Nope never painted any ECW figures before so really unsure of colours. But looked at a few sealed Knot videos (on Youtube) and got an idea for colours.
DeleteYou've done a cracking job there Clint, bravo sir!
ReplyDeleteI really hope you enjoy dipping your toe into the period - which wasn't "English" and definitely wasn't "civil" ;-)
Thank you Addict. I shall do a few more but as I will need less than 20 al together they will not be common on the blog at all. But you just never know.
DeleteLooks good to me, Clint.
ReplyDeleteStu's got me reading books on the Border Reivers, so I reckon he must have been sending subliminal thoughts to you, too.
If I do something along this period I reckon I'll give En Garde a try.
Thank you Roy. I have read "Steel Bonnets" but it is possible that Stu wants you to read more about his family name. (and they were a right bunch of cut throats!)
DeleteEn Garde is an OK set of rules and it even has a Border reiver army (force) list in it as well.
What a wonderful looking figures Clint!
ReplyDeleteThank you Ray. Funny whenever I see a figure I have painted I see all the mistakes first. I am sure we all do (see our own mistakes). Fun to do and I shall do a few more but give me a few weeks at least.
DeleteHe certainly looks the part Clint, not that I’m proficient in the period but I should imagine earthy colours for parliament forces
ReplyDeleteThank you Andy. A wide variety of colours should be available. But certain colours are far easier to dye than others. So earthy colours may not be always the best choice.
DeleteGreat figure Clint and excellent colour choices.
ReplyDeleteI have that style of helmet too a burgonet, but like my own one armour could also also blackened (probably for protection).
(From my own experience, I also wouldn't use any SK photo for reference save for a fantasy style figure!) photo
Thank you Joe. I am weary of taking too much notice of SK troops. Quite often I have seen them in 20th century foot wear. That being the case I am somewhat sceptical of all they portray. But as a first place to look I agree they are a "Go to".
DeleteLovely job Clint. By the post title very versatile in lots of different games :)
ReplyDeleteThank you Simon. ECW eve featured in a DR WHO series (peter Davidson I think). So if I need to step out of period as well I can.
