More ECW Cavalry < well just 1 more.

Yes I only have 1 to go. Which considering there were only four is not a lot of cavalry. I started to get together a small force for "En Garde" and as 3 other club players already had ECW forces It made sense to get something that would fit in so I could swim with the tide and not against it. Hence I started an ECW force. First I knew I needed a leader so started with a Mounted plastic sprue. I only wanted 1 mounted figure so as this was still one of the cheapest ways I took the plunge. And having got them they wee quite nice so I decided to paint another figure..... and now I am on 3. You see how this goes. I will do some foot troops soon I promise, and you can count on that.

here is all three painted and together. Not an impressive force but a fun one and easy to get done. I am still looking for the sprue as I have finished assembling the last one (with a different weapon!) but need to add some pistol holsters to it just to round out the corners.

Lastlty. 10 d20 all the way from China. Cheaper to get them from China than to travel to my local shop and get just 1. Sad but true. But why am I buying any D20 dice?  The short answer is that I wanted some dedicated "Dieselpunk" dice. You see these little things go on behind the scenes without notice and I will very soon start painting for the project. A couple of things to clear from the table first, but things are starting to take shape. Price wise 10 D20 cost £2.71 including postage from China and I got to select the colours (as long as they were all the same..... in this case Grey and Coffee) so naturally I selected colpurs of diesel and petrol and rust and well I say no more.

Have a good day and thanks for popping by for a quick look.

All the best  Clint

    1. Thank you Dave. The Diesel punk is coming slowly, had a few set backs but life without setbacks is called paradise.

As for the ECW Cavalry. I need more holsters I have decided, it is just they look so cluttered when I put them on.

  2. Nice dice! I've bought dice from China or Hong Kong via ebay many-a-time, and usually at a fraction of the cost of the petrol I would use to drive to my nearest shop!

    1. Thank you Lee. It costs me £3.50 to get to the nearest shop that sells dice and then there is the cost of the dice Say 50p each so for an outlay of £2.70 for 10 dice it just makes sense to get them sent half way around the world. Which is a bit crazy really!

  3. Another nicely painted ECW figure and you really can't complain about the price of those dice. What a bargain!

    1. Thank you Bryan. If only I needed more dice! I think I am set for now though.

As for the ECW figure. 1 more Mounted to go and then on with the foot. And again a single spre of them should be enough.

  4. More "ECW" and another corking cavalry model, Clint. Lovely clean painting too, imho. What a bargain the dice are too, and the promise of foot soldiers coming soon... marvellous mid-week post :-)

    1. Thank you Blax. Soon might be a little optimistic as I have yet to purchase them. But they are planned. I shall finish the 4th Cavalry model first. And only then look to part with money.

The dice are a bargain. And maybe doubly so IF I can roll high. (Chance will be a fine thing).

  6. Nice to see a hat-wearing figure in your 'troop' and a pistol holster on the horse too.
They're beginning to look like a reasonable force for a skirmish, even with just the three of them.

    1. Thank you Joe. There were 2 Holsters but one has fallen of and rolled god knows where! This seems to happen a lot to me! As for a reasonable force for a skirmish game...... knowing Matt he would have a cannon as well. That said Muskets should suffice and some pikes should round out the force well enough.!

  7. Nice ECW mini Clint. The dice look ace, do they roll true?

    1. Thank you Andy. I query the whole notion of dice rolling true. They seem to roll whatever I do not need them to roll at least 90% of the time. Just like other dice. (There is a clue in the blog title after all)

    2. yeah dice are funny things. Somehow they always know what you need to roll and yet somehow decide to thought you!
